My GM swears he read somewhere that the stun setting on blasters cuts the range in half. I have looked in the obvious places but I need some help to set his mind at ease. At this point I don't care what is what, but he does. Some one of you may have read that passage, if it exists. I suspect he is confusing D20 or essential guides or something.
Just for clarification, we play D6 Star Wars. |

Page 162 of the (d20) Saga Edition Rulebook:
Quote: | When you make a successful attack with a weapon that deals stun damage subtract half of the stun damage from the target's hit points. Additional effect may occur as well, depending on the amount of damage dealt: |
Page 98 of the (D6) 2nd Edition Revised and Expanded Rulebook:
Quote: | Stun Damage. Weapons set for stun roll damage normally, but treat any result more series than "stunned" as "unconscious for 2D minutes." (Unless specifically stated otherwise, all character-scale blasters can be set for stun damage.) |
Your GM is either reading too much d20 or smoking crack. Either justifies doing an intervention. You better talk to his friends and family. _________________ __________________________________

I thought I'd read somewhere that blasters set to stun could only hit at short range.... could've been a houserule, though... _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

I can't find anything in the rules about it shortening ranges. Maybe some house rules that just got carried over from game to game, and misremembered as canon? |

In SAGA stun attacks have a range of 6 squares.
I'm calling your friends and family too.
Of course, someone could say quite a bit about me if I know these rules off the top of my head. _________________ __________________________________

It might be the crack, but he has really cut back so... I don't know.
Chances are it was just a house rule but I promised I would do the research.
Thanks for the help gentleman, or ladies... no seriously, thanks guys. |

I have played under 2 gms who quartered a weapons range for stun, just to somewhat neuter the 'stun all enemy out cold THEN suffocate them to death while out, rather than try and injure them' routine. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Actually using the RAW a non force sensitive can do that just fine. Many GMs will grant a darkside point for killing a helpless individual but according to the rules it's fine. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

It was more of a fringe game, where both the dark and light were stepped on at times. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Even if you dont put DSP:s into the equation I would ask the characters to consider if their characters were cold blooded murderers or not. To me this is beyond what would normally be called a fringe game. Perhaps if you were running an Imperial campaign with an especially ruthless commander. _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

No D6 rules about shorter range for stun settings. But me and my groups are seriously consiering adopting something like half-range for stun setting, both to compensate for the added ease of bringing someone down that stun offers, and because in the films it does look like the stun blast wouldn't travel very far with much accuracy. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |
