I just thought about this. With droid starfighters like the Vulutre and Scarab ships of the CIS, would ionozation results affect the droid's skills as well as the "ship"s die codes? It seems like a double penalty but...
A orgianic pilot suffers the penalty to his ship. It akes sense that a droid brain that is part of the ship would be affected by the ionization. So it could be penalies both for the affect on the craft, and the inability for it to "think straight" while ionized. |

i would say that the droid brain if in the part of the ship that's ionized isn't penalized - it's ionized. So instead of dice-pool penalties, the droid brain would just be straight up shut down. |

Since both the ship and the droid brai are effected by ion damage, then it makes sense to me both would suffer. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

There has got to be a downside to having droid ships, or everyone would still be using them. I'd say that if a droid ship gets ionized, then the droid brain gets ionized as well. _________________ __________________________________

I'd treat ion damage as stun damage for droid ships. Whether it's a ship or some other design, it's still a droid. Ion weapons stun droids. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

The impression I get is that all types of combat droids were pretty much wiped out in the wake of the Clone Wars. People seemed to put a lot of the blame for the war on the existience of the droids. Combat Droids make it too easy for someone to just buy and army and wage war. Or to escate a conflict through mass production.
That said, we know that assasin droids are out lawed, and yet they Empire used them, so I wouldn't be suprised if there weren't some battle droids and droid fighters still out in the Galaxy, somewhere. Using, or just owning them, could get someonein trouble with the authorties, but if the Wookiee is an escaped slave and a rebel to begin with...
...make him hunt for the droids; then work to undo the effects of being stored away for 20 years; then make his work to get them to obey him; and finally--
-- have them get blasted to bits in a battle like in the films!
I can imagine that they might be some isolated Seppie outposts, or ships waiting at a secret rendevous in deep space, that somehow didn't get the message that the war was over. Manned by droids to stupid to do anything and wait for new orders. Or to be discovered by the enemy.
--------------------------------------cut scene-------------------------------
Battle Droid Commander: A Wookiee? You bucketheads, don't you know Wookiees fight for the Republic? Blast him before he can alert the Republic to the location of our secret base!"
A hundred battle droids in unison: Roger, roger.
First PC: Now wait a minite!
Wookiee PC: Gruahh!! (trans: I got a bad feeling about this)

There might also be reports of droidekas and other tech federation battle droids lingering in private collections that said wookie could hear about and decide to try and liberate. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

There's a snippet in the Enteague pdf in my sig which tells of a fleet of Trade Federation ships that fled a losing battle, entered the clouds of a gas giant planet and was never seen again. Idea is that there might be a lost fleet of battledroids somewhere in there.
Perhaps a single Neimoidian captain is STILL biding his time all these years with those droids. Perhaps an Imperial governor has discovered the dormant droids and are programming them to be subservient to him. Lots of ideas you can develop from it. _________________ The Enteague Sector | Cracken's Collection of Crackpots

Now if your player can ever afford it or borrow it get himself/herself a construction droid, then all you need is the plans to any droid you wanted, say a droidika, the feed raw metals to it and make your own.
Its what one of my old group did. Stole a construction droid and in a few weeks had a replacement crew that didnt require pay, food or life support for his capital ship. Ingenious really. _________________ "To find our future, we must look to our past" |

Droids do still require maintenance which is costly with that many. And unless he has bookoo bucks (credits) he won't be able to upgrade their software to be combat effective. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Yeah, I'm going with skillware on this one as well. Even if they had the raw materials and the right hardware, the skillware is going to be beyond illegal for this during the reign of the Empire. _________________ __________________________________

If the group''s techie has the right skills, he should be able to write spme replacement skillware. It's not like B1's had incredible combat skills. A PC with 6D or so in Droid Programming should be able to come up with 3D Blaster skillware.
The droidekas would, no doubt, be more challenging. |

In an earlier campaign (many years ago) I played an outlaw tech (think tech wiz/slicer crossed with Zaphod Beeblebrox) with a fetich for droids. His favourite project was Ev-1l 3d. It was a 2,5m loading droid, added armour, added weapons (Upgraded E-web, Rocket laucher plus electric hull), sensors and stuff. Only problem was that I wanted a even higher level of combat programming than what I had time developing for my self. 'Luckily' I found an old Assassind droid head in a junk yard one adventure and sliced programming from that. Aah, that was a masterpiece to behold.
Several adventures later, when my character (with the hardwired master switch relay) was away, the old assassin droid personality (which was hidden in the combat programming I had ripped) to control of my droid. The droid was in our ships cargo hold while the ship was in hyperspace when it started rebelling..... My fellow players (who was on board) were NOT pleased with that... |
