Book's not out yet, but the first excerpt showed up online dealing with a few SpecForce operatives. Do the folks at WEG get any royalties for this kind of stuff? Cause it seems this book will contain a whole lot of simple conversion, rephrasing and republishing of stuff WEG came up with. I do like that they used the SpaceOps armour which appeared in the comics, though. However this brings out one aspect of Saga that I hate: oversimplification. So you have this uber-cool Space Marine armor depicted, and how does it reflect stat-wise? "+2 armor". That's it. Come on, doesn't the thing has some sort of MFTAS? Night-vision? Sound-dampening? Energy-absorption? Frigging vacuum-support?!

Anyway, doesn't seem like there will be much work that'll need to be done for this book...

Sadly, I do not think that WEG gets anything because Lucasfilm owns all the non-game-mechanics text as product identity, back then and still. WEG made it and Lucasfilm owns it. At least the small bright side is, the same thing applies now so WotC doesn't own anything either, including what little fluff WotC actually creates and contibutes.

You and me both, brother. Reason #137 why WotC Star Wars largely sucks.

Just to clarify: there are more than 137 reasons, right? (like, a lot more....) Laughing

They better have detailed stats of the drums Ak-Rev uses in Jabba's palace in this sourcebook. I mean, what's the damage code if you pick it up and throw it at a stormtrooper?

I think it's great that they're mining some of the video games for items. I hope we get more ships from X-Wing Alliance. I'd love to see the Muurian Transport in there...

There isn't a source listed on the TIE Oppressor. Does that mean we need to check its current stats against new converted stats? That is to day, are the D6 stats just a guesstimate from a video game, or are they actually based on something?

I had to ignore the offical stats and go with my original ones a couple of times for this one. First, the text goes into great detail on how it's not very maneuverable and only veterans dare handle it, but its Maneuverability score is somewhere around 3D+2. No, no... Then they say its top speed is 1,450 kmh, about Space 15. For a Rebellion-era light bomber, I say no.

If an item in one of my books doesn't have a source, that means the stats were not based on any official ones and are just a personal interpretation of the item taking into consideration any available info.

I went to the Wizards board to see if anyone had posted a preview of their own, and I was lucky. Someone had posted all the names of all the new stats that they have in the book. I took the liberty of cross referencing those names with the names that appear in Gry's stat books and found a list of things that we'll need to convert.

This looks pretty ship heavy and speeder heavy. It's possible that there are a few things that I've missed, but this should at least give us a good idea of what to expect.

Forceally, if you wouldn't mind double-checking me once you get the book, I would really appreciate your help. You're always good about the details.

Chapter 3:
Weapons
- power lance
- gas grenade?
- sg-4 blaster rifle
Armor
- Merr-Sonn KZZ Riot Armor
Equipment
-Ambient Aural Amplifier
-Computerized Interface Scope
Military Builidings
- Golan Arms DF.9 ?
- KDY v-150 PLANET DEFENDER ?

Chapter 4:

- G1-M4-C Dunelizard fighter (no source listed)
- Ixiyen-class fast Attack craft
- M12-L kimogila Heavy Fighter (no source listed)
- M22-T Krayt Gunship
- Pinook fighter (no source listed)
- Razor-class Starfighter
- Mobquet Medium Transport (no source listed)

Chapter 6:
Droids
- LV-38 Spotter/Probe Droid
Vehicles
- Gallofree HTT-25 Heavy Troop Transport
- T2-B Repulsor Tank
- T4-B Heavy tank
Starships
- YM-2800 Limpet Ship
- T-Wing Interceptor (no source listed)
- X4 Gunship

That's great, thanks a bunch. That's a good list. As predicted, they did dig hard from some of the video games. There are several from X-Wing Alliance there. It seems we'll get "official" stats for several ships which I had statted based on game observation.

Should be a fun and quick conversion (time permitting). Hope to get the book as soon as possible.

After surfing Wookieepedia collecting images for this pdf, it does seem that pretty much everything in this book comes either from either X-Wing Alliance, Galaxies or Empire at War. I guess naming this the "Video Games Catch-Up Sourcebook" wouldn't be very marketable.
