I was trying to work out a list of all the advanced skills from the various books. Off the top of my head I have the following:
Main Rulebook (2nd rev and exp)
Medicine
Strongholds and Hideouts
Various Engineering skills
Truce at Bakura
Brainwashing
The Jedi Academy sourcebook has a prison medical droid that has illness diagnosis (I think) as an advanced skill. Are there any others? _________________ I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. You might try some of the D20 books for the info and adapt it to D6 _________________ Tuco: "But if you miss you had better miss very well. Whoever double-crosses me and leaves me alive, he understands nothing about Tuco."

I've seen something with martial arts I think...But it was a good couple of years ago so I'm not sure. I'm willing to bet that someone else around here would know better. _________________ wookies+lightsabers=bad day

I think Martial arts is a specialisation in the Rules of Engagement book and an advanced skill under the Nogri race. Also Droid engineering is in the Droid book.
It would have been good if WEG had been able to get all the other skills introduced as well as the various rules consolidated in a rules companion or something similar. _________________ I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Noghri martial arts is still just the martial arts specialization... it says that they get it for free as a skill... _________________ "For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times... before the Empire. "

Bacta tank operation is an advanced skill.
Are you trying to find a particular skill Halda? _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne

I think you got most of them or at least the good ones.
bioengineering is an advanced science skill.
Cloning would be too, I think. _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne

Space Transport Engineering, Starfighter Engineering, Capital Ship Engineering, Starship Weapon Engineering, Capital Ship Weapon Engineering, Repulsorlift Engineering, Swoop Engineering, Ground Vechicle Engineering, Walker Engineering, Blaster Engineering, Blaster Artillery Engineering, and so on.
Basically, the skill you use to design new equipment to be added (Not just slapping in something that already exists) to a craft/weapon/ect.
Example: General St. Pierre, Commander of the Far Orbit Fleet Marine Corp, wants a new design for his Light Speeder Forces. He gets on the horn to the Verpines, and puts in the specifications to them, and drops an insane amount of money into their bank accounts, with a promise of more later on.
One Verpine Engineer with Speeder Engineering designes the Chassis, Engine, and Repulsorlift Coils (A High-Altitude, Light Weight Speeder with provision for only a Pilot and a Gunner, Moderately armoured). Another with Blaster Artillery Engineering designes the weapons system (A triple "Gattling" Blaster Cannon, Medium Range, Heavy Damage). They get together to figure out how to get the two pieces to fit together. A Third Verpine Tech with both skills works out the rest of the kinks.
Crunch, the Klatoonian Roustabout, and Oota, the Insane Gun-Bunny Rodian, test the craft, don't break it despite doing things to it that are way beyond spec (Without orders, mainly due to being bored), and St. Pierre is very, very happy. |

If you use say blaster repair as oppossed to something like blaster engineer, would either design really be more reliable? Or is the only difference cosmetic? _________________ wookies+lightsabers=bad day

WR, Engeneering is used when building a new *DESIGN*. New theory, new product.
Like a Colt M1911A1 and a Glock 21. Both are .45 Pistols, but of different designs and concepts. Both would require different rolls to design.
OK, Star Wars Example...
Corel & DuVal decide to build a new Heavy Blaster Pistol... Mr. DuVal, using connections that C&D has with BlasTech, takes the design of the DL-44, but decides to improve upon it more than the usual "More Damage/Range" bit. He attempts to halve the amount of Blaster Gas used with each shot, thus increasing the amount of shots per blaster pistol clip. Now, this is not a one-shot modification, but a full redesign of the product, and would thus require the use of Blaster Engeneering, not Blaster Repair. |

Does anybody have statistics or details as to how these advanced skills are used? I have the medicine one but I'm not sure what the specific rules (time to use, requirements, or difficulty level) are on any of these. _________________ wookies+lightsabers=bad day

I cannot remember difficulty numbers but the droid book has a rundown. Basically if you do not have the advanced skill it is really hard to do. If you do have it then you make the roll at an easer level.
You can also stack the advanced skill with the basic skill on basic skill rolls. This would mean that you would get to a certain point where you would still use the base (+ advanced) skill to do an advanced roll as it would be easer than a lower difficulty with just your advanced skill. Of course there would be times that you may only be able to use your advanced skill. _________________ I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. An important thing to remember is that higher education is needed to have/improve these skills. Along those lines, any skill that can be advanced by college should/could be considered advanced:
Example
skill= biochemistry
Advanced skill= Pharmaceuticals |
