Im looking for a asteroid mining ship I remember I have seen in either a game book or an 'essential' book.
It had 'legs' on the bottom side to grab and hold on to asteroids while using some laser to melt it. Its not the Ithullian one. It had the looks of a normal ship (ie no insect) if you ignore the 'legs'. I think it was between 100 - 200 m long.
Anyone who knows what Im talking about? |

Ah, thats the one...
I think I saw it in the 'Essential Guide..", now unfortunately lost with the rest of my SW collection..
I cant find any stats for it though. Anyone (Gry?) know if any exists? Cant find it in Starship Stats. |

Great...so if you 're-modify' those stats perhaps one would end up with something usable..
How about this... Lowered the ridiculous Maneuver rating. 2D is still extreme for a 110m starship scale ship. As it was it was as hard to hit as an A-wing. I assume Space 6 was needed for pirates, but not for a ship 'hunting' asteroids. Also lowered the crew size a bit given the original ship is a more basic ship than the Starjacker.
The Plasma drills of the Starjacker were modified for range and increased damage. I guess you dont need range at all if all you want to do is drilling into asteroids you have catched. Also lowered the damage to 7D.

I'd have assumed the base manueverability was 2D+1 as a starship can only have a stat modified by 1D+2 max. I guess it needs to dart in and out of floating asteroids, I can't imagine wanting a sluggish ship for that.

I'd probably drop that to 6D+1 as you've got a while to drill through an asteroid you don't have to destroy it in a single blast. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.
Simply stand closer to the object you wish to view. |

But 2D for a 100+ meter 'starfigher' ship is good. Lets not talk about the modified ships 4D! I think the designers 'forgot' that they were doing a 'starfigher' scale ship. Regarding the alteration it assumes they have worked by boosting the original maneuver jets instead of installing new ones. Regarding the damage of the drill I assume that a asteroids are rather more massive than space ships and that as a mining tool the power is adjustable. |
