In both movie and other sources jedi (and for example sith) sort of 'parries' force lightning either with their lightsaber or with their hands (joda in senate hall vs sidious). Is this somehow represented in a force power (or just a rule) or is it just the 'theatrical' way of showing the control resistance roll?

Second. If a Jedi is affected by a force power, for example Telekinesis, as the enemy overcomes his Control defence, is there a way of breaking that control once its established. Again, a force power or a rule (for example, make opposed Control rolls each round to see wether the Jedi breaks free or the enemy keeps the control)?

Once a jedi has you in TK, other than something happening to cause him to drop it, there is no BTB way to get him to release it.

Maybe an opposed alter roll to break free. Strength vs a diffuculty of your choosing and being able to draw and weapon and fire?

It feels very 'un Jedi-ish' to have to draw a blaster to get out of a force duel pinch. Dark Jedis can allways rely on Force Lightning and the like as a way of putting the enemy down, but what do the goody two shoe Jedis do?

Thats why I wondered if anyone knew of any existing rules for it...
Otherwise Ill have to come up with something..

Other than retconning the rules to allow a 'resistance' roll each additional round against the base diff the jedi put on it when he activated the power, i don't see any. BUT if you allow this, imo it should get more and more difficult the longer it is held.

Or a specific power which specifically counters 'kept up' force powers.

However, if you go the 'resistance roll' way then making it one difficulty higher for each attempt seems logical.

SO as an example, Jak the dark jedi has tk'ed one of the party with a 26 on his alter roll, while the player got a 13 on his strength (or perception) roll. Next round he can attempt to break free by rolling a 27 (as a tie would go to the attacker). Second round it is held he can try with a 30, then 35, then 40, then 45?

I guess I'm looking at it from a more New Jedi Order point of view here. I've gotten used to Jedi not having qualms about packing a blaster if things look to be a little hairy.

A simpler mechanic might be an opposed Alter or Control roll depending on your preferences with the system.

I don't really remember any examples of Jedi actively canceling any powers other than Force Lightning. Which the easiest way to represent using a lightsaber to do it is just give a bonus to the Absorb/Dissipate roll (+5 or +10 perhaps).

Found this in the Force Powers pdf.. (Fan made though)

I would limit the effect to one specific force power though. Or perhaps increase the Alter difficulty by +5 for each force power over the first.

Force Breach
Sense Difficulty: Easy
Alter Difficulty: Target’s opposed control
roll.
Required Powers: Affect mind, dim another’s
senses, sense Force
Effect: If this power is successfully activated,
it allows the Jedi to select a single opponent
and bring down any Force powers the target
currently has up. The target may attempt to
activate their Force powers the following round
with no penalties. This power does not affect
Force powers such as Force lightning, or bolt of
hatred that have a single, instantaneous effect.
Example: Ambelled Daru finds himself in
combat with the Sith Lord, Darth
Arius. Darth Arius. Darth Arius
is currently keeping lightsaber
combat and control pain up.
Ambelled rolls his sense dice
and gets a 12, easily making
the difficulty. Ambelled makes
his alter roll and receives an
18. Darth Arius now makes his
control roll, and receives an
11. Darth Arius now drops his
lightsaber combat and control
pain. Though he may attempt to
activate them again next round.

How about the ani/obi fight where they both force pushed each other and had a bit of a force push battle? (using the force push converted power?)

How would we handle this in game terms?

But that would have to be done as a reaction?
