|

I kept having to check various documents while I've been converting characters, and I got sick of it. So, I made a list of all the skills that I could find.
http://www.4shared.com/file/118045765/ddfae9d4/Complete_Skills_List.html
If you find any that are missing, please let me know. Give me a citation, and I'll update it. _________________ __________________________________

I was surprised too. I found it on a website and verified its existence. It was a skill listed under ZZ-4Z's stat block in the Dark Empire Sourcebook. Only the book that brought you a reborn emperor could also give you cleaning as a skill option. _________________ __________________________________

I just updated the file. I was double checking a few of the skills that were listed. I found one that wasn't supposed to be in the list, and I found three or four that were missing from the compilation. _________________ __________________________________

This is a great resource, Cheshire. While the color coding is helpful, it would be great to also see a version where the references outside the Core Rulebooks are listed (i.e. "Dark Empire Sourcebook, pg. Z") - only necessary for those more unusual skills not included in the 2nd Ed. or 2nd R&E.
Also, what's the difference between the orange and purple backgrounds?
Thanks for your efforts! |

Orange and purple don't indicate anything in particular, it just makes it easier for me to tell where one skill/specialization ends and the other begins. Much like the fact that there is no difference between the gray and white.
I may add the page references, though perhaps in another document. _________________ __________________________________

Yes indeed. It was one of the sources I consulted when creating the list. Sometimes it was not entirely accurate. For exmaple, the accrobatics was listed under dexterity and not under strength.
I'm doing some double-checking on many of their skills, but so far it seems to be 95% accurate.
There was another source that was less complete, but fully documented with page numbers. The documentation was really quite nice. _________________ __________________________________

LMAO- you're right, I looked it up and sure enough there it is! While I think this skill is totally bogus and can't imagine any PC wanting to have it (let alone spending CP's to improve it) I take issue with it being a STR skill. Clearly this should be a Perception skill, as in "roll your perception... okay you notice dust on the counter...."
And to take it to a silly extreme, can you specialize in cleaning certain things like bathrooms or kitchens? Is laundry covered under this skill or is that an advanced cleaning skill? Should there be a skill under mechanical like Vacuum cleaner reapir or Vacuum cleaner operation? If my wife were a PC she'd have about 1D in the operation skill!

Actually I'd say Cleaning is a Technical skill. You have to know which equipment and which technique to use for each kind of cleaning... It's more of a repair skill than anything... _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Nope STRength makes sense. Cleaning professionally is pure hard graft. Climbing requires technical knowledge and skill but we happily lump it in strength to reflect the requirement to have good body conditioning upon which the build and apply that knowledge.

LOL! That would take a lot of strength.
Of course, anyone who has gone into their room to find that a toddler has gotten into the top drawer beside the bed and dumped a collection of massage oils, moisturizers, and other such items into one single spot on the rug knows that cleaning it us takes a pretty high knowledge roll to know how to even start on getting all that up!
Of course my mother in law is the most knowledgeable person in that regard, but you have to omit from the list all the personal lubricants that went into the mix, and pray it doesn't make a difference to the concoction you need to get it all up. _________________ __________________________________

I guess one could always specialize in Cleaning: Personal Lubricants.....

Uncharacteristically (and only briefly) rising above the temptation to throw in an ill judged joke.
I think that Cheshire is to be congratulated and thanked on creating a resource bereft of houserules.
I for one would have been tempted to play my usual game of 'what skill goes where' and this one makes much MORE sense as a specialisation than a seperate skill and so immediately made the resource of no value for at least half of the potential audience.
Sticking to a summary of RAW makes this document equally useful to all levels of rules meddlers.
Y'arrrrr |
