Is there a limit to how powerful a blaster bolt a lightsaber can deflect and if so where do you draw that line. |

So your telling me that a lightsaber wielder could potentialy deflect a planet defender ion cannon pulse, a turbo laser blast or even a shot from the deathstars superlaser? |

Uh, no, I hope he's not saying that. The strongest bolt I think I've ever seen a Jedi deflect was a starfighter's laser, if I'm not mistaken they do it in the Clone Wars movie. For me, a capital ship's turbolaser would be beyond the Jedi's ability to deflect. The blast is simply too broad for the lightsaber to deflect completely, it would be like trying to deflect a deck-clearing blaster, only much more powerful.
So my rule is: Jedi deflect up to Starfighter-scale. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Luke did it in the caboth series (if i recall correctly). Nearly sent the saber from his head every time he blocked one...
but i agree, starfighter scale only, and even then there is some major penalties. perhaps even str checks.. _________________ The Vong have Arrived

I have always done it up to sf scale, but with an immediate str check to hold onto the saber.
Cha scale is no str check, Speeder is easy, walker (NOT ATAT) is moderate, ATAT is difficult and fighter is very difficult. Cannot block beyond that. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Theoretically, yes, if Yoda's teachings are extrapolated to their logical point. (I recognize now that you probably weren't asking about it in that sense, but when I posted my reply I was finishing up a 12 hour night shift with not enough sleep the previous day.)
Do I think there are or ever have been any Jedi powerful enough in the Force to do so? Probably not, at least not the planet defender ion cannon or Death Star superlaser. Practically speaking, for any possible character one could make, I'd say a capital scale turbolaser would be at the bare edge of possibility, but if I ever allowed something like that, it'd take a bucketful of dice rolling all 6's, and would destroy the lightsaber in the process.
Of course, they'd also earn a bunch of Stupid Side Points... _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

Maybe succes should involve strength of blast vs strength of lightsaber + Control roll? |

Its not just that though. With the bigger blasts comes more energy AND a wider blast, like with fighters. IIRC of the thrawn trilogy where luke had to deflect one it was close to the size of his LS's blade and was barely able to be deflected. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
