Ok, we had a good discussion a while back on falling damage, and the difference between 2nd ed base (where it capped at 18d) and revised where it caps at 9d. But what if you are falling through stuff.

EG falls 40 meters and crashes through ceiling windows over say a hotel entrance way that is a further 10 meters off the ground?
Or 60 meters into a trap door which has a monofilament strip at 55 meters down?

I am so glad that I'm not a player in your game.

The 9D would be pretty low for falling 50 stories through a glass window or a monofilament wire. Such things would be certain death.

Terminal velocity. Damage is based on the materail hit and how hard/Resistant the object is that is falling.

Now the hotel is easy the big damage is from hitting the roof. The roof will take the damage first. AS the roof may not give..in this case the window.

IF you do go through. That is a separate fall as Non-terminal Velocity. as for damage treat it as a throw as if getting hit by the object they broke. Momentum is a funny thing and even a flimsy window can affect it.

Some that glass is pretty tough. I'd say 2d4 to 1d6.

The second I'd have the Mono-fliloment cord roll a save and if it passes do damage count it as critical. Even if the cord doesn't kill him, the fall will.

I was thinking of this for the final fight for a possible new module where the pcs chase the 4 baddies (poss 3) onto the roof of a tall building. All the baddies would have jet packs (or the like), and i was wondering what would happen if they latched onto a PC and dropped him while in mid air.
