Hi.
I am running a risk styled wargame set in the starwars universe. I am using email, physical mail and txting to run this game so looking for a couple of extra players from New Zealand, preferably Auckland due to lag in postage time.
Each of the players represent an Imperial Warlord who has broken away from the Empire after the Emperor's death at Endor. There will only be one "game turn" per week but generally lots of enquieries back and forth between turns.
There is only room for two Warlords left in campaign, but there is room fro players interested in being captains of rogue Star Destroyers who may choose to ally with Warlords or even Coruscant.

Too bad about the snail-mail requirements. I think this would be really interesting and fun. |

Yeah I would have been in on this if the snail mail component wasn't involved. I don't know how long it take mail to get from Australia to New Zealand, but it can't be as long as the mail coming from the USA _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

I've got friends living in Australia and gifts we send each other take about a week or week and a half. Standard letters are probably quicker than packages.
I'm hoping that once the game is over he'll either run another version or I can swoop in like some kind of starving vulture and grab all the rules and run one myself. That way he can be a player too. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Yes its a pain with my limited internet access. And the functions on our PCs at work are quite limiting too. If I was able to be able to scan in pics and maps I would do the whole thing by email.
But thank you all for showing interest. Will try and keep it updated. _________________ oops - i didnt mean to make it go off |

No, it hit a rather prolonged delay while everyone got far to busy.
After about three months we were all ready to go again but no-one could remember exactly what their plans were.
I declared myself the winner as I was the closeset to the end goal but it was somewhat unsatisfying, especially since if it had lasted another turn or so I would have actually won.
I see genocide and being just plain evil with the cornerstones of my victory. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Ashame really, sounds like it would have been a good time. I do rather enjoy the Imperial perspective (it's the only way I SWRPG).
Keep me in mind if you get another one up and running, I'm in Wellington now, but I get up to Auckland quite a bit.

Yes it was a great game, if it ever is run again I imagine it'll be quite different as we all know some of the behind the scenes details now.
Perhaps I can convice the GM to post some highlights. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

I would be very interested in knowing how you would run Captial ship battles! _________________ The Vong have Arrived

I only know the basics as the GM didn't want us all be able to do the maths before the battle but here is what I know:
Each ship had it's own damage rating, soak and tactical score all ships (including wings of Star Fighters) had ten health levels.
A Star Destroyer for instance did ten damage and had a soak of five, I was never privy to the tactical rating of any of the ships but my warlord had a tactical rating of three (most had a rating of two)
So a SD vs an SD the battle would go like this
Round 1
SDs close to firing range
Round 2
SDs close to firing range (If TIEs and the like were present they would be in range and engaging now)
Round 3
SD1 does 10-5 damage to SD2 which returns fire and does 10-5 damage in return
Round 4
Both SDs are at half health so their damage rating is reduced... I'm not sure how it proceeds from this point but the SD with the highest tactical bonus will be victorious but not by much.
The combat was designed not to require any dice rolling but could still get mighty complex when large fleets engaged each other, _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

I play a similar game on a PbP website, where the players are all Imperial officers commanding ships of various forms. I'm also not sure quite how the battle mechanism works, but the website itself has a introductory section that explains it well enough. |
