I just found this and I thought I'd share:
My baby sister has been in the US Navy for around twelve years now and is currently attached to an electronics warfare squadron. I've been checking out squadron patches and I came across the above patch. Yes, this is a real squadron patch. The Star Warriors are a squadron in the Naval Reserve.
Looks like someone in the Navy was a major Star Wars fan. Though when the Squadron was named Star Warriors I'm not sure, found out it was formed in October 1977 (even more interesting given what occured that May).
