The R-22 has a curious history as a Starfighter. It's design was leaked from the Kaut Drive Yards secure datafiles at the same time Walex Blissex sided with the Rebellion, it was manufactured at various facilities around the Galaxy, with varying quality being the result. A number were obtained by the fledgling Rebel Alliance, but they were insufficient in numbers or performance to be used on a large degree.
While a fast interceptor, it's low-powered power generator limited it's performance greatly. In addition, the tight confines of the design prevented much in the way of modification, and made maintaining the craft a difficult task. In addition, most of the components were only obtainable from Kaut Drive Yards, or manufactured from scratch, which made the craft expensive to keep functioning.
It's reputation, however, was redeemed when Blissex took the notes from General Dodonna and revamped the design to make the RZ-1 A-Wing. |

Official fighter, homebrew stats. It's a retcon creation to explain the A-Wings popping up before Ep4. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Thanks. Deadly against the original Tie Fighters and Tie/ln series, but anything with any decent combat ability will take it out. |
