One of my players wants to use a Bo or Quarterstaff, non-electric. What do you think the stats on either of these? I was thinking Str+1D or Str+1D+1 would be decent for a starting weapon. |

STR+1D is correct, according to Gry's Weapon Stat book. I looked it up in the original source as well, the 2E WEG Star Wars Sourcebook. It's in one of the tables. STR+1D is pretty much standard for most melee weapons that are unenhanced. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

I think I saw it too (or it's just my imagination). On last SWD6 session (I was GMing) one of bad guys used bo-like weapon, I used STR+1D+1, difficulty Easy. I didn't have max specified, but I think it could be something around 6D+1. |

The one I gave the damage for is also an Easy difficulty, but it's just a regular staff. I haven't seen "Bo staff" specifically, myself, but I'm just going by the source I did see, not ruling out other listings. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

As a side note, at what skill level would you consider someone to have a weapons mastery?
This person in particular is kind of proposing the character as a martial artist and is intending on using the staff in addition to hand-to-hand combat. I was thinking that I might come up with an advance specialization that would be treated like a lightsaber combat style, with bonuses and specific moves, but a prerequisite to it would be a sufficient level of mastery in the individual aspects. So what do you think would be a good balanced number? I was thinking it couldn't be lower than 8D and higher than 12D would make it unreasonable. I figured 10D would be a good bar to step, but kind of want to hear what some other people think. |

Mastery imo would be in the 10-12d area, where they are considered best in the system/sector.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Don't the advanced skills require at least 5d in the base skill? _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

At a minimum. IIRC there was one in strongholds and hideouts that required 2 skills both at 4d+2 _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I would put mastery around 9D-10D _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |
