Nova-Tech Assault Powersuit
New from Nova-Tech is the Assault Powersuit, designed with the modern battlefield in mind!

Power-Enhancing Servos allow for increased strength assistance while also supporting the weight of the suit, cutting down on lost mobility. It also allows for a single trooper to carry the new BlasTech T-89 Medium Repeating Blaster, which is attached to your choice of limb, and receives power from the suits own system.

All this, and a large number of options are available at request!

Nova-Tech Assault Powersuit
Model: Nova-Tech Assault Powersuit (Base Unit)
Scale: Character
Skill: Powersuit Operation: Nova-Tech Powersuit
Cost: 7,500 Credits
Availability: 2, X (Not available until six months before "New Jedi Order")
Game Notes:
Armour: Suit provides +2D to resist physical and energy damage, with -1 to Dexterity and related Skills. Can be sealed in one action, which allows the suit to function like a Vacuum Suit for four hours worth of atmosphere. Due to the design, the user of this Powersuit has to use Powersuit Operations for all Dodge and Running checks.
Servo Enhancers: +1D to Brawling, Climbing/Jumping, Lifting, and damage in Strength-related attacks.
Energy: Power Packs contain enough power to last seven hours of low-usage (Traveling Mode) or two hours of high-usage (Combat Mode).
Weapon:
Medium Repeating Blaster
Fire Arc: Front
Scale: Character
Skill: Blaster: Medium Repeating Blaster
Range: 10-75/150/275
Damage: 6D

Tarvil/52:9:88:12/Car * If you want proof that BlasTech now owns Nova-Tech, this suit is it. Almost the entire first production run of T-89s went to the suit. While the styling is different, this is just a product improved model of the original Nova-Tech Powersuit.

Jorsk/37:7:4:94/Ada * More than just a product improvement. It's a ground-up redesign! They kept the main structural braces of the original model, but everything else is brand new. And a lot of the internals are patented by BlasTech, so yes, either Nova-Tech is heavily in bed with them, or is now owned by them.

"Crunch"/99:1:40:100/Xii * Owned. I was there for the hostile takeover of Nova-Tech. We went in with armour, blasters, and explosives! Then plopped down a huge load of cash on the table, bought over 60% of the company, and fired the CEO.

Oota/81:23:0:1/Slu * See, I don't ALWAYS have to blow up everything in my path.

Nice except that it should be X instead of R in the availability. Nobody would allow for a strength enhancing, great mobility, and heavily armed powersuit to just walk around.

Plus with only a -1 to dex with +2 granted to both resistances, makes it a little out of wak..

Check the price, and also check the stats on the original Nova-Tech Powersuit.

Oh, and I forgot something else, sorry. Going back to edit now.

As for the "R", it's designed to be sold to Militias and Military Units only. Hense the "R" rating. "X" is for the stuff that only Black Ops teams get, and they're disavowed.

It's similar to AV-1S (Scout) (bonus to STR and price), but much stronger (2D/2D vs 1D+1/1D) and more comfortable (-1 vs -1D) and it has built in repeating blaster slightly better than Merr-Sonn Repeater 3Z (which cost 2500).
IMO you should slightly raise it's price (to 10-12k) and make it little more bulky (-2 or -1D DEX). Also you may add a slight bonus to Move (+2 for example) to reflect strength of it's servo enhancers.
And one more thing - 7/2 hours is too short. I think ~24h would make it more usable (power cells are pretty effective in SW universe Smile).

That's why the price is so low. They cheaped out on the battery life. Also, it's come out much later than the AV-1S, and technology moves forward after the Empire took over the Galaxy, as opposed to the Old Republic suppressing it.

This is the "Base Model", and options will be coming, one of which is a longer battery life. But expect to pay through the nose for it.

Actually, what the heck, alright folks, what options should be offered?

We have longer battery life, what else?

So far, my ideas include a Powerful Jet Pack or Rocket Pack, Advanced Helmet Options (Encrypted CommLink, Infrared/Ultraviolet Filters, Thermal View, Built-In Water Supplier), Option for different weapons systems (Light Repeater for longer Combat Life, Heavy Repeater for harder hitting), more amour, more powerful servos, Vibroclaws, and, a very popular option, the Factory Installed Molecular-Implanted Paint Job!

For me 2 hours are completely unacceptable, IMO armor with that short battery life is almost completely useless. 24h is minimum, otherwise many of this armors would stay on the battle field with discharged power cells (and can be captured by enemy). And note about technology that moves forward - in previous post I suggested that IMHO it move too much. I analyzed all power armors and most of them has a least -1D to DEX (except smasher and bounty hunter armor, but these are significantly weaker). It could be acceptable if it was much more expensive (20k or so), but for 5000 (7500 - 2500, price of repeating blaster) it's much too powerful.

Agreed 7 hrs is too short but with that low of a price tag, 6 hrs is more to my liking. Perhaps if it was 12500 base cost, i could see it getting a 12 hr power supply.

Perhaps as add ons, you could go with

24hr powerpack - +2500
36 hr powerpack - +4000
Additional light repeater - +cost of repeater and 200 installation cost
Jet pack with 20 uses, 200m horisontall range / 80m vertical range - +3000
Comlink encryption with voice activated selection of 1 of 8 possible freqs/encryption links - +2000
Thermal/uv/lowlight vision enhancement to headset - +900
Build in 2 day water supply - +500. Add 300 for urine filtration system
Arm mounted vibroclaws (treat as vibrosword for damage) - +800
Additional servos (adds an additional +2d to lifting) - +900

Exactly what I was getting at, Garh!

And why not have the extra battery life be "Standard". Perhaps you'll have a military unit grab a bunch of the cheap suits, strip the Repeater from them as replacements, and just use the suit as a Utility Cargo Powersuit.

That's what we did with Smasher Armour in the Far Orbit Fleet, IIRC. Kept the troops trained and out of (too much) trouble. And kept part of our maintence requirements a bit easier.

problem is ray, with it only costing 5K more than the repeater itself, it seems wayyyyyyyyyyy under priced for somethign this good.. Hence the low duration of the battery

Which is why the "extra charge" for the superior designed battery life is so popular!

The old Nova-Tech Powersuit cost 1000 Credits. Had better Armour, a Rocket Pack, and a "Blaster Cannon". *THAT* was overpowered for the price.

This one costs five times as much (And then add in the price of the Repeater), has less armour, clumsier, no rocket pack. But is a more open-ended design, and doesn't suffer from some of the design faults that the original did.

Oh, and has a *MUCH* better advertising campaign.

Edit: Oh, and Smasher Armour costs 1,250 Credits, has half the armour, but no Dex penalty, and twice as much "Power Assist".

And neither one goes into how long you can run the suits for.

So, ya, it's 5000 Credits for something that combines two suits that cost less than half as much, with a nice 2,500 Credit Repeater. Even with the lack of battery life, some folks might consider that overpriced.

And it would still be illegal.

Again, Restricted to Military and Paramilitary Units only. That's what "R" means.

"X" means that even the Military doesn't "Officially" have them.

But most heavy weapons are X. All repeaters except maybe two are X. This alone would make the suit X.

"R: Restricted on most planets, and normally may not be bought without appropriate Imperial, New Republic, or other Relevant Licence."

"X: Illegal on most Planets. Possession and use often violates Imperial, New Republic, or local laws except for specially authorized individuals; penalties may be severe."

OK, arguement for each of these is appropriate, yes.

I read too much into "Individuals", perhaps, forgetting that a Corporation is an "Individual" in the legal sense, which would allow Bounty Hunters, Mercenaries, and Corporate Fast Responce Security Teams to use 'em.

OK, X it is.
