For years I have argued with some friends about the astrogation skill. Can droids use it to plot the course for you, or are they there only be a a resource to help calculate? One debate was how cheap is it to get a droid to do it for us. Along the same lines with droids what about pioleting. Can droids do that and to what degree. There programing is limited of course. But if that is what they are made for (astromech droid shouldn't they be able to do it? |

We always played that astromech droids can actually plot the course for you (although it is kinda cheap, "I hate those astrogation computers, my droid will plot the course for us" ). Droids have skills, just like PCs and NPCs, so I think they can pilot a ship (or perform any other task) as well as their skill level allows them to... _________________ "Mind what you have learned. I agree.
Consider this, a stock droid compared to say, Artoo Detoo, would probably pilot and astrogate under boring protocals, while Artoo would do the same jobs with a little more flare.
I once owned a protocal droid thats piloting skill was so high he could pilot as well as Han flies the Falcon! Still, he was only a droid and not a seasoned pilot like Han. _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne

but people by droids and program them with things like astrogation so they don't have to do the medial tasks all the time. |

True. That's what I did. Still, I'd rather have Han at the helm in an asteroid field than a protocal droid with the same amount of dice to roll. _________________ "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." -Max Payne

Speaking of programming droids is it possible to simply buy and upgrade package a droid load it up and give the droid some new skills? You know like buying software for a computer.
"Damn I flunked my Wookie language class and I can't understand my newest crew member. I don't what a protocol droid hanging around so I'll just buy a protocol upgrade and download it to my R2" |

So how much does it cost to upgrade your droid's skills?
How much time does it take?
Is a matter of plugging the upgrade disk (datapad?) into the droid and hitting install or is it something complex that requires a dice roll?
What does it take to upgrade a droids stats (strength, dex and the like)? |

i can't say how much it costs but you have to buy a certain amount of programming disks based on what you want thier skill to become.
then you roll droid programming once for each disk.
if you fail the disk becomes useless and you have to try again with a new disk. |
