Hello all, I'm new here, I'm a teen and enjoy RPGing with my dad. We do SW RPG every month or so, and I've really enjoyed it. But enough about me. I have a question.
Movement: When shooting at a target that is moving, what's the penalty? Is there an official rule on this?
Another Q: When I'm moving, is there a penalty?
Please let me know as we are very shocked that one member of our group, (a sarkan actually) is charging a local theif. The theif is fumbling for his blaster, scared outta his pants that a juvenile tyrannasourous rex is charging at him!!! And he gets no penalty.
Thank you,

Well, as far as I remember, there are no real official rules about difficulty modifiers for moving targets or attackers. Yes, that's it. No rules.
So, what do you do? Make up your own. It really seems reasonable that there should be some modifier for that kind of situation, so just apply one. Shooting at a running person might be something like +5, while shooting at someone on a speeding vehicle that whizzes by you might be +15. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

I know in the space combat section, it does give modifiers for firing missiles and torps at moving targets, with a chart based off the targets speed. It should be easy to modify that for characters/vehicles... Say.
Character - 0-5 move/rnd, no mod. 6-10 move/rnd - +5 to hit. 11-15 move /rnd - +10 to hit. 16-20 per rnd - +15 to hit. 21-30 per round (eg flat out running) - +20 to hit. Sprinting (which is normally 40) +25 to hit.
Vehicle - not sure, as cannot remember their move stats...
As for your movement. You can take 1 move action, and move up to your rated speed, double it or do a full round move at quad (basically you are sprinting BUT you cannot shoot).
You can move under half of it as a free action, so no penalty there. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I believe when he mentioned the attacker moving, he was concerned with more than the running action penalty. The focus is the increased difficulty due to the speed difference between attacker and target. If you're on a speeding vehicle, shooting at a stationary target, it's more difficult than if you were stationary. Although I think it's easier than if it was the other way around. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |
