I guess you would need the right materials, a good workshop, a high (A) Armor engineering skill (or blueprints?) and a high Armor repair skill. _________________ All stats 2D, except: brawling parry: versus boxing 2D+2, melee combat: swords 3D, melee parry: swords 2D+2, languages: english 2D+1, scolar: history 3D, scolar: social studies 2D+1, brawling: boxing 2D+2, computer programming/repair 2D+1. |

There are rules for advancing armor. Can increase to 1D+1 beyond it's standard rating if you either
1) Pay 10% the armor's base cost in materials and make a repair roll at a difficulty number I forgot.
2) Pay an armorer 10% the armor's base cost plus 25%(+/- based on bargain roll if allowed) of the armor's base cost for the labor.
Both of those methods will increase the armor bonus by one pip. Repeat the process again for another pip. _________________ My backpack has jets!

Should be in the main RPG Book, also known as "The Blue Book." _________________ My backpack has jets!

For something as radically different as Mandalorian armor, I'd say you'd have to reverse engineer an old one (borrow it), steal someone else's suit (permanent borrowing), or gain access to a high enough Armor Engineer (A) skill to make one.
Of course you could always just hire Boba and ask him to let you copy his armor. He might say yes. _________________ Aha! |

...he wasn't all that happy about Jodo Kast walking around with a similar armor. And you don't want and unhappy Boba on your tail.

I believe Boba tolerated Kast until he started impersonating Fett. Then Boba dealt with him. If a player were to make a copy of the armor and then make it distinctive somehow (neon pink sign proclaiming "I am NOT FETT") then Boba might be cool with that. One never knows until one asks. Nicely.
Alternatively, in and after NJO, it looks like Boba has an entire cadre of Mandalorian warriors, so one could just play as them.
I'm reminded of that SW Tales issue in which Boba takes his armor to a group of monks for annual maintenance. While he's enjoying a nice mud bath, somebody makes off with the suit. Boba persues in Jango's armor. It doesn't end well for the thief. 8)[/i] _________________ Aha! |

Armor repair to increase the protection..
Using the ;shields/hull' for ships as a base..
+1 pip would be moderate, at +10% cost
+2 pips would be a difficult, and +15% cost
+1d would be very difficult and +20% cost
while +1d+1 would be heroic and +25% cost... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

From my view as a gamemaster, I use that as the max stats for non power armour. It would be possible to make something like that though the advanced skills, and many adventures of gathering information/materials would be in order to achieve this end. Lesser armours would be more avail, or upgradable. |

There have been some very good points made here. Boba Fett was VERY unforgiving concerning Jodo Kast, but IIRC it was due more to the fact that Kast was impersonating Fett and even claiming credit for some of the captures Fett had made. That of course had to stop, immediately.
I would figure that, as Boba's armor is distinctly different from Jango's, there is definitely precedent for there being several sets of this armor floating about. However, in order for a character to obtain armor of this magnitude, as a GM I would definitely be requiring a great deal of adventuring. The character is either gonna have to pay out some seriously steep credits, manage to survive killing an individual who already has said armor (and risk damaging/destroying it, as well as themselves), or pay the toll through much blood, sweat, and tears. It won't come easy, and it won't come cheap. But for the fortunate character who manages to lay hands on such coveted armor, I would HIGHLY recommend they take great pains to render their armor completely non-confusable with Boba Fett, be it paint scheme, choice of armaments, whatever. I'd just make flippin' sure that if Boba comes knockin', it's because he's come to you for information, not because you've cheesed him off... |

Gundark's Fantastic Tech: Personal Gear has an entire chapter devoted to armor and armor attachments.
However, just the acquisition of the armor suit should be an adventure in itself. In addition to the upgrades via Armor Repair, it is possible to eliminate some or all of the Dex penalty by custom-fitting the armor to a specific user. (If I were GM, I'd require the (A) Armor Engineering skill in order to do this.) _________________ Han - "How're we doin'?"
