Never had to deal with this in a game, but got into a discussion:
Can a blaster rifle (range 3-30/100/300) hit someone at 301m? Does its damage reduce? How do you guys handle this? _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

The way I hande it, I increase the difficulty by yet another factor of +5. But that's just me. _________________ My backpack has jets!

I have not had that come up in a game, but this is what I would do:
+5 to the difficulty for every increasement (short range being added to long range. )
-1D to damage for every increasement.
example: blaster rifle with range of 3-30/100/300 & damage of 5D gets the fo;;owing: every 30 range increase (to long) -1D skill & -1D damage.
The blaster rifle now has 3-30/100/ 300/330 (dmg 4D)/360 (dmg 3D)/ 390 (dmg 2D)/ & 420 (dmg 1D).
Pips would not be affected or used for the range modifications.
Hows this sound? |

Mine was too simple, didn't take into account damage reduction. _________________ My backpack has jets!

Yeah, I normally just pester garkhal til he admits my point is simply not flawed. He actually thinks Chabit's idea is good. That is an accomplishment.
...I got a lot of work to do to reach that level. _________________ My backpack has jets!
