Gry Sarth and I are working on a sourcebook for Attack of the Clones, In the Jedi section I am wanting to add the diffrent lightsaber Forms. I have several home brew versions, but they all seem cumbersome and a pain to work. So I am wanting to make them simply but fun to use. Any suggestions. Thanks in Advance
Thanks

There's a little something I cobbled together a few weeks ago. It's not much, but I used alot of the resources found on the net. I'm thinking of changing a few things about the forms themselves since I found a better rendition of them.
Anyway, here's a link to where you can get it.

Well, converting the bonus for each form from d20 to D6 seems fairly simple:
Form I
+1D to Lightsaber skill on opposed rolls made to disarm oponnent.
Form II
+1D to Lightsaber parry rolls.
Form III
+2 bonus to deflect blaster shots, +1 when redirecting them back at a target.
Form IV
Character may add half his DEX dice (rounded down) to his lightsaber's damage when fighting one-handed, or his full DEX dice when fighting two-handed. (or maybe 1/3 and 2/3?)
Form V
+1 bonus when deflecting a blaster bolt back at a target. He's also able to
deflect bolts fired in a 2-meter radius from him.
Form VI
During a sabre fight, the Jedi can use Persuasion, Intimidation and Con as free actions (may be rolled at full die score, without affecting the combat rolls)
Form VII
+1D bonus to Lightsaber attack rolls.
Now the question is, how to aquire the Lightsaber Form. It's obvious you have to be fairly skilled with a lightsaber, so it should be similar to an Advanced Skill.... _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Yes, I was thinking it would be an advance skill. I don't really see any other way for a jedi or Sith to aquiring them.
Thanks

But how would it work? When you aquired, say, the advance skill "Form VI Lightsaber", what would you roll. Your advanced skill? You advanced skill added to you Llightsaber skill? The problem with this second choice is that then there would be no reason to raise your advanced skill beyond 1D.
To be perfectly honest, I don't really like this Lightsaber Form thing, it doesn't sound like D6 to me... _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

You are right the lightsaber forms are definatly not a D6 thing, but let me explain myself. In Attack of the Clones in the Geonosian execution arena you saw almost all the diffrent styles of lightsaber combat. Secondly, the one thing I would like to accomplish with the diffrent sourcebooks we are talking about doing is coming up with other ways for a player to flesh out his character. I don't know you may be right it, this maybe something that's better left to D20.
Thanks

I'm not saying that it shouldn't be done for D6 or that we shouldn't include it in the book. I'm just saying I don't much care for it. But I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who'd love it. So these are the people we'd be doing this for.
So, back to the system. What about my "what to roll" question? _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Why can't we set it up to where depending on what form it is it gives you extra bonuses. Example maybe +2D to an attack roll using a lightsaber , or +1D to a defensive roll with lightsaber ingnited. I don't know, What do you think?
Thanks

Well, I think that's what I did in my first post, didn't I. Depending what form you're using you get one of those bonuses.
But the real question is, how do we make this NOT a "feat" that you learn once you achieve some lightsaber mastery, but something more integral to the D6 system. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

I see what you are saying let me work on that and see what I can come up with. maybe set it up to where we have some kind of requirment like you have to have at least 5D in your lighsaber skill and base it on how hard the form is to learn. I don't know I will work with it.
Thanks

Just an idea- maybe make it like a special ability... have a cp cost, a lightsaber minimum (IE 5d) and base what to roll off of whatever form it is..... _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

You could also have them in something like a sidebar, and have it as an optional rule. _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

Yes, more like the Martial Arts styles and attacks. You have to have a minimum skill in Martial Arts and than spend a number of CP to aquire diffrent attacks and such.
So like the above guy said, assign a minimum skill level required to have for each combat form, than have a CP cost for it.
But what I don't like is the lightsaber combat forms, at all. Really they are all using the exact same real world sword fighting style... starts with K, forgot the name.
These styles are all very, very limited in scope according to their descriptions. _________________ My backpack has jets!

I don't know. Having it as a special ability that you pay CP to buy once you meet the pre requisites sound an awful lot like a d20 Feat, and unlike anything in D6.....
Going with the Advanced Skill idea, maybe have it that the bonus you receive is directly tied to the amount of dice you have in the advanced skill. So for lightsaber use you'd roll yor normal skill plus the advanced skill (much like doing first aid with Medicine), but you'll also get some bonus. For a given Form, it might be half you Advanced Skill dice as bonus to deflect blaster bolts, or such. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |
