I once had some general guidelines for fines and other punishment in the empire. I know it might not be universal, but has anybody got some information on the punishment for different crimes?
Crimes that a player group is likely to commit are especially interesting:
Possession, transport, threat or use of illegal weapons.
Possession, transport, threat or use of explosives.
Possession transport, threat or use of illegal spice.
Assault
Murder
Treason
Kidnapping
Possession of illegal starship weapon
Etc. _________________ All stats 2D, except: brawling parry: versus boxing 2D+2, melee combat: swords 3D, melee parry: swords 2D+2, languages: english 2D+1, scolar: history 3D, scolar: social studies 2D+1, brawling: boxing 2D+2, computer programming/repair 2D+1. |

I suppose there's probably a 'standard' for punishments, but with the corrupt nature of the Empire, it's almost more likely for the punishments to be varied based on the level of corruption of the official in question. In other words, if you're looking to have some fun with it, there's more than ample room for you to do so. |

Side question..
What sort of offenses would get your ship 'impounded' by the imps? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Transportation of restricted goods
Shipment of high energy weapons without permit
Mounting of high energy weapons on a vessel without permit
Possession og illegal goods (X rated)
Transportation of stolen goods
Conspiration against the empire
Possession of a cloaking device
Attack on another vessel
Aggression against imperial personnell
All of the above will normally get the vessel impounded and the captain imprisoned for 2-30 years or a fine of 250-10,000 credits.

I canīt seem to find those papers so I made something up.
It is a list of crimes and punishment in the empire.
I was inspired by the law in Georgia (USA) that I found on the net.
I must say I was honestly stunned when I saw the kind of sentences they dish out in the states. 1-20 years in prison for burglary, and that is just for your first offence
No wonder their prisons are full.
Well, back to Star Wars.

Seem like these 5, would cover pretty much any rebel group. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

That's because burglary deal with breaking and entering. That makes it a felony. You've invaded someone's home or business. You should have checked out Texas....
In Texas, you don't have to be "afraid for your life" to use deadly force on your property...you merely have to be afraid for your property. Of course, if you do shoot someone, you tell the police that you were afraid for your life. Makes things simpler.
On topic, I would say that the Empire can seize any ship whenevr they want to. all they have to do is claim that the ship is needed for reasons of Imperial defense. For the duration of the emergency. That's easy enough!

The tramp freighters galaxy guide has some good guidelines on crime and punishment regarding ships etc. class five infractions are just fines for minor things whereas class one infractions include attacking another ship or conspiraccy to overthrow the empire. _________________ oops - i didnt mean to make it go off |

*Notice To All Imperial Judges: We Require More Workers On Kessel. Please Make This Happen. Thank you.*
"This is a serious crime you have committed. And have done so before. So now, I shall make an example of you. Two years on Kessel. Take him away! Next case!"
