Spurned from a thread over on the holonet, where someone recounted (in good detail) his exploits, running his group through a multi tiered hyperspace race, what ways could you all come up with to allow all the others to join in something like that??
What i am thinking of doing, is coming up with one for an interactive "mission", where there would be 6-8 stages, with vairing difficulties. The better they do on the astrog roll would be time 'saved'. But what i am having problems with, is coming up with situations/things for non pilot types/ship repairers to do... other than maybe a pirate attack/ground attack by nasties, for those gun bunnies, what things could i put in to make it enjoyable for everyone..?? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Ray's got it right. Make it either a target-rich environment or an EXTREMELY competitive race, kinda like the pod races at Mos Espa. |

Next thing you can do is make it a Contest, rather than a race.
Add other events: Cargo Loading/Unloading, Shipment Finding, Repulsor Skiff Driving (Or use some of the Cargo Speeders I wrote up!), Clearance Aquirement (In some strange alien langauge that noone knows), Customs Situations, ect. With bonus points for unique ways of dealing with situations. |

Those ideas seem better ray, but lets try and flesh them out... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Sabotage is a good one. While the pilots and gunners are busy, the others have to find a bomb or three on the ship. That gets their interest too. |

Rent Outlaw Star and watch the episode "The Great Space Race" for some ideas.
One thing for other crewman to do, repairing stuff damaged by obstacles. Because frikin hell stuff will break, man. I hate when that happens...
The Cargo Loading/Unloading is also good.
There is usually never an "All ships allowed" race where you'd see a yacht vs a capital ship vs a scout vs a interceptor. Exactly what ship types and limits are there? What are they being tried against for the better ship?
If it's for the better cargo hauler, than there should be a size and cargo capacity limit, having diffrent "weight classes" basically. And adding in checkpoints where unload and load cargos of differing weights would add to that.
Or if it is more of a cruiser race, with various yachts, gunships, and other small capital ships, the course may be obstacle heavy and turbulent. Being able to perform certain stunts at various intervals will net you more points/time off your final time total. _________________ My backpack has jets!
