One thing i have never understood, with cover and consealment. Do the bonuses they provide add to a persons dodge roll? Or do they just add to the range + other modifiers, if he does NOT dodge? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Range + other modifiers, unless the character is close enough to dive behind cover for their first dodge roll. my take on it anyway. _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

What if he is already behind it, like say, in a thicket of hedges (or should i say, behind it). _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Range + concealment modifier and hiding behind a thicket isn't overly smart in a blaster fight. Those blaster bolts go straight through thickets. _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

Cover blocks shots. Percentages of cover depend on how much of you is sticking out trying to shoot back. If you are entirely behind cover, you can't shoot at them, and they can't shoot at you. Unless they toss a grenade over the top of the wall.
Concealment makes it harder for them to see you to get a "bead" on you and blast you away. It also works both ways if you are both separated by a shrub or hedge. Of course, during an ambush, one side is usually hiding in the concealment so they won't be spotted. Once they are, the fight better be over because the only help they get is being hard to see because of the foliage unless they prepared hardened ambush sites to provide some cover bonus as well.
Now, the way we work dodges is if you are behind cover or concealment, and you dodge, it adds to the difficulty to hit you based on range. Makes getting your butt out of the open a much smarter thing to do. Make sense?

Correct, according to the rules, when behind cover you can dodge, and add the bonuses to your cover. |
