It would be nice if those entries included some game mechanics, such as the penalties the diseased person suffers and the First Aid or Medicine difficulty to cure.

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to add game stats to these diseases one I am finished with compiling the rest. All I really need would be the effects on the character, such as character suffers -1D to this or that.

I can do it but I am not real confident in being able to come up with good, accurate penalties.

If nothing else, could someone at least give me a few tips in getting started on those.

Gry, is this what you were thinking for difficulties? I would still need to add penalties and such yet. Also, the assumed skill would be First Aid or Medicine, unless otherwise specified.

Disease: Affliceria
Symptoms: Head cold, fevers, severe dehydration
Contagious: high, spread through airborne bacteria
Fatal: high if untreated
Affected species: NA
Cure: vaccine, disease extinct as of 2nd Galactic Civil War
Rarity: uncommon before cure discovered
Time period: Cure discovered 100 years prior to 2nd Galactic Civil War
Diagnosis difficulty: moderate
Treatment difficulty: easy
Notes: Largest known outbreak on Coruscant spread by Commenori spies.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I think you should specify if the diagnosis and treatment rolls should be made with First Aid or Medicine. Normal everyday diseases can be detected and cured with First Aid, but rare and complex conditions would require the advanced Medicine skill. The line should be drawn on whether or not a nurse should be able to handle it without the need to call in the certified doctor.

Some diseases might require Medicine to detect, but once the disease is identified, the treatment might just need a simple injection of vaccine which First Aid can handle.

It's been a while since I've been able to get to this thread, so I've got a comment now.

The only problem I would see is that most people aren't familiar with a hardness scale to understand the objective number attached. But it works well for a comparison if that was ever needed for creating custom gear or needing to reference a material in a campaign.

The only other thing that I spot is having the Star Wars scale capped at 10. 10 is for the hardest known objects on earth. It is, however, logically possible for there to be other harder materials not on this planet. That is not to say that you SHOULD have put something at an 11, but that we should be open to future materials qualifying as an 11 or 12.

thanks for the comment Cheshire,

I got the idea from an old Marvel rpg that had a similar chart. If you notice the last entry on the chart it is above the 10 mark.

You are probably right I could also put them in a classification that is not so technical and more suited to vaster audience.

ex. puny,weak,strong, etc.

I was also hoping to get comments on if you think the materials are in the right places. I had a few I had questions on.

Well things are coming along pretty nice, but what is needed for the project now is writers.

Going to try and come up with characters to introduce each chapter and make comments about each item. Like in Revised and expanded 2nd edition or Gundark's personal gear or hives of scum and villainy.

If you would like to develop one of these characters and add some humor and depth to this source book let me know.

Tip of the hat to YodaWI for his contributions.

So through the hard work of yodaWI a list of diseases and maladies has been compiled. Now I am trying to come up with games stats for the symptoms of the diseases.

Here's the list of symptoms I'm working with. What I need is any West End stats that might have covered these symptoms and your ideas on them too.

For example fatigue -1d to all skill rolls,
excessive Mucus production -3d to any seduction roll. Razz

Head cold, fever, excessive mucus production, headache, body aches,
cough, sinus pain shortness of breath, wheezing, chest pain, coughing up blood congestion, fluid in lungs, heatstroke dizziness, vomiting, chills, sweats, fever

welts, swelling, burning skin ,rashes, itch, soreness, swelling,
severe dehydration, fatigue, loss of appetite weight loss, insatiable appetite stomach aches, indigestion, redness, irritation, boils/blisters

syncopated breathing rhythm that sometimes causes ventricular fibrillation of the heart, strange sensation of hands fading away

spleen failure (for you Hisham) 8)

panic attack, anxiety, gaps in memory, psychosis, paranoia, mental and emotional breakdown, insanity, dementia,

discoloration of the eyes, loss of equilibrium loss of directional sense
swelling of tongue, swelling of fingers, crusting around eyes and mouth,
attacks brain and central nervous system, degeneration of nervous system
dizziness, blurred vision, muscle spasms, muscle weakness, stiffness, numbness, deafness, blindness seizures

Thanks
