Indeed. d20 is about to make a switch to a new system, so anything they "might" release in the future will be incompatible with the old system.
Even if you don't manage to buy all the books you want from e-bay, you can find most in PDF form on e-mule. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

I would actually like to see a Unisystem version, if we had to eventually deal with yet another incarnation of SWRPG. Of course, WEG getting it again would be great, but I see that as unlikely. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

It might not be as unlikely as most think. IIRC, WEG mostly lost the license due to its failing as a company. Now that it seems to have recovered, there might be a chance of it regaining the license. |

I think it's more a matter of whether they'd want to go down that road again. I'd love it, but I think I saw somewhere that they had no interest in pursuing it. We'll see when/if WOTC's license expires. If the minis sales hold up, they'll likely hold onto it for a while, since the roleplaying and minis are bound up in the same license. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

Oh yeah, I've seen the fan-made version. That's how I know it could work. I'm talking about an Eden Studios version. I have yet to be disappointed by one of their games, 3 of which are in my Top 5 (AFMBE, Witchcraft/Armageddon, Conspiracy X), the other two being WEG Star Wars, of course, and Unknown Armies. Eden's got good people, and if anyone other than WEG was to get the license, I'd like to see it be them. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

I've never actually had the opportunity to play with Unisystem. All of my role playing is currently done over the internet and for me to get used to a system, I'd like to play it live. I do like the concept of the system though, and even thought about doing a James Bond conversion with it. That or Tri-Stat, which I find an intriguing system as well.
Oh, and here's some more interesting conversions I found while Googling. _________________ Check out some of my games at DriveThruRPG!

The next game I run after my current SW campaign will either be Unknown Armies or some ConX/Witchcraft hybrid game. One of my players is thinking of running ConX after my campaign is done, so I may get to be a player for that and jump right into UA when I run something again. Unisystem is similar to D6 in that it's one of those systems that is relatively simple, and fades into the background so you can focus on the roleplaying. I like that.
Interesting conversions. Hmmm, they give me an idea for a new one; Star Wars, Unknown Armies style. That's so wrong I might just have to do it.
It'd be particularly nasty to spring some Sith Entropomancers on my players... _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

Do you prefer the standard Unisystem rules or the cinematic version? I have the Witchcraft rules in PDF via Drivethru RPG and have looked them over. I like them pretty well, but I've read a lot of folk's posts on other sites going nuts for Buffy and other games using CinUnisys. What's your take on it? _________________ Check out some of my games at DriveThruRPG!

I've looked at Buffy/Angel, as well as Army of Darkness, but I'm a bigger fan of Eden's Classic Unisystem games. The Cinematic ones seem to be quick and dirty versions of the more robust Classic system. I've been a fan of Unisystem since the Myrmidon Press version of Witchcraft, and become rather familiar with it. The Cinematic system seems ok to me as an introductory ruleset for new roleplayers, but the Classic version is just more complete, particularly in the area of magic. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |
