The activities of the rest of the Alliance also serve to enhance the effectiveness of the Ministry of Education. The declaration of the Alliance to Restore the Republic codified the viewpoint of the Alliance, and when widely distributed, it undermined the Imperial propaganda line that the Alliance was nothing but a bunch of bitter anarchists. The Battle of Yavin gave the Alliance a major boost in the sense that more Outer Rim worlds became willing to at least tacitly support the Alliance through covert shipments of supplies and such. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I had never thought of that ....
Hmmmm, maybe it could come back to even with brainwashing etc etc etc, you can twist someone, but only to a point. You can never outright force them to do something they would never do. You can degrade morality, increase subservience & brutality, but only incrementally. Plus, these changes are 'external' - not the right word, but I can't think of a better word. It is items you do or allow to others not yourself ... Its one thing to allow or even encourage brutality to others, it is another to allow brutality to yourself is what I'm aiming at as external
As "Kamikaze" comes from a culture that completely subverts the individual to the Emperor, and not just in their actions, but in the willingness to commit suicide just because the Emperor wills it. That may be a step too far for a culture that less than a generation ago was a republic. Given ... 3 ... 4 ... ???? generations of manipulation maybe the Sith would be to that level _________________ "And so I am become a knight of the Kingdom of Dreams and Shadows!" - Mark Twain

Look to RL for how quickly some earth based cultures can 'subvert' others into being willing suicide bombers. And that is WITHOUT SW tech level brainwashing techniques, drugs, the force, subliminal messages etc.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
