Oh, I've known garhkal (under different names on different boards) for probably over a decade now, so I know what sort of games he runs and what his outlook on games are. Just because it's different than mine doesn't stop either one of us from making suggestions or comments about each other's methods. Wink

Strange... the Holonet is the only site (along with SWAG) i go by the Wolverine moniker.. ALL other sites i go by garhkal...

I concur wholeheartedly that everything needs to be laid out in advance.

But what if it isn't?

Then imo the pc defaults to being ran by the gm.. OR if there is a way for them to 'bow out' for a while, he does so.

I've been somewhat out of touch with the SW-RPG D6 online community for a while. What other forums are there that cover this subject?

True.. But so does the absentee player, for thinking his character would be safe by his absence

I think that it should be a safe assumption that one's character will not act out of character in a player's absence, particularly and especially if it is a life and death situation for the character.

Do you, in your games, have absentee players charge headlong into mortal peril?

When other players have controlled absentee ones (at their behest) they charge in headless of peril, as they would have based on how they were before hand....

And I think that the 1) at the players behest, and 2) as they would have done based on previous behavior are two very important qualifiers in this instance which separates you from the other GM discussed in the thread.

I admit, my own style too is a little different then Garhkal, from what I have been reading here.

But the danger and risk is what makes the adventure fun. It makes it more of a game, and role-playing then just telling a story.

So if garhkal makes the danger a little more important, it just means that when you accomplish something it tastes that much sweeter.

Though more to this topic, I believe what happened here was a player was absent, and there just happen to be a new player and the GM let him/her play the absent character. Unknowingly to the absent player.

That it does.. that it does.

As to your question.

WEG has its own forums (cant remember the link), then there is the SWRPGnetwork's Holonet which does both D6 and D20 starwars, then there is the SWAG (star wars artists guild).

Correction, WEG does not have it's own forum anymore. In fact, you'd be hardpressed to even find the WEG website.

There's wegfansite.com/forum/forum that deals with all WEG's stuff.

When did they drop their forums?

When Eric Gibson no longer made it any sort of priority to maintain a website. WEG has pretty much had its properties chopped up and sold off. I'm not entirely sure to what extent the company even exists at the moment.

A couple years ago their forums were stopped. Only if you had a direct link to their forums could you access it, and no one could post. From their website if you clicked on the link to the forums it took you to the aforementioned wegfansite forums.

In 2010 the WEG website actually ceased to be maintained and disappeared, forums and all. Then, as mentioned, Eric Gibson of West End Games/Purgatory Publishing sold off portions of material owned by WEG to other companies. TORG, Bloodshadows and others are owned by other companies now. D6 went open source as OpenD6.
