Heh, I remember those fighters!
Initially, I was thinking that these pods of yours would be smaller, and one would fit under each wing, similar to the way the Harrier works.
Also, I love the MIP concept. Just like the sort of thing military contractors would come up with. |

This is the first time tried in the Star Wars Universe in my imagination, so the O-Wing is an experiment for that, so they just decided to keep it simple, and try to miniturization later, and just have one pod that straps underneith both wings.
And try for a Dual-Pod system at a later date, after the bugs are worked out.
Addl: The MIPs also come from Wing Commander. Wing Commander 4, to be exact. There was a parody story posted on Usenet about it that I still have on my hard drive in which the mechanic on the ship LITERALLY used Port-a-potties for these. One wasn't emptied when it was launched. Yuck. |

That's a decent looking ship. I like the second set; that could be made into a SCREAMIN' fighter... |

Actually, it's a flying bullseye in the game.
There's so many of them, and, when they turn in just the right way, which they do far too often (In the storyline there's a comment about visibility as the reasoning for this), they literally do look like bullseyes.
IIRC, you also never get to fly one. Just shoot them down. In droves. |

Exactly. They were the Kilrathi TIE Fighter, practically.
And, actually, IIRC in an expansion pack you did get to fly a captured one in a few missions. |

Well, that's why you have to watch your relative up and down in a dogfight... Better hope it has the speed and shield/hull strength to compensate for the broad target profile. |

Nope. JOAT (Jack/Jill Of All Trades) fighter. Not enough speed, not enough armour, not enough guns/missiles.
The O-Wing is the same, in my mind, but adaptable for appropriate situations. If given the right Pod, it'll kick some serious hull.
But, if not, then it's a flying target.
That, essentially, is what I was aiming at. |

That's the beauty of the Pods... If you need to you can outfit a squadron with different pods so some of them are ready for dogfighting, some for ground attack, and others for perimeter defense of the squad. Spread out the pods and watch em spread the love! |

We could make a Slushie dispenser pod... Handy on those long hyperspace flights! |

Great. I'll take four. I have four different games I'm in right now, and some of those guys could REALLY use a good slushie! |

Actually, it would be cool to have you post anything you've made up. I'm about to start in a game focused in the Outer Rim; we'll be part of a small Alliance unit that will be based on a small fleet. I'd like to direct the GM to your post so he can get some ideas for the fleet. |
