Ok, cool. That makes tons of sense. I'll have to look into it. |
When i get back home, i will go through other books of mine for a look...
But even if i cannot find anything i still might give a blast zone cause of the exploding concrete/rocks etc....
Say - from the edge of the "point of impact" to 4 meters, 8d 'shrapnel' damage
4-7 meters, 6d
7-10 meters 4d... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Here's how I'd write it:
"The Turbolaser barrage was a horrible thing. Blaster fire was bad enough, where fist-sized chunks of Duracrete and stone would blast away, sending shrapnle everywhere. The Turbolasers were even more powerful.
"We were in a forrest of Traxus IV, the first warning we had were the Scouttroopers retreating. We hadn't noticed that the Stormtroopers had performed a fade earlier. Too busy in the fighting, too preoccupied in organizing the retreat of the non-combatants. Apparently one of the prisoners rescued had something the Moff in the sector *REALLY* didn't want to get out.
"Wanted it bad enough to scorch an entire forrest just to get him.
"The trees came first. Even before the Turbolaser hit, the sheer heat from it caused the water in the plants to flash-boil, split, then shatter, sending "slivers" the size of a Wookiee down at us at insane speeds. I saw Hobbins cut into three pieces before the blasts even hit us.
"Those were even worse. Three guys were just vaporised as the blast took them. The lucky part is that Turbolasers don't 'Blow Up' like explosives do.
"Too bad the things they hit aren't the same. At the power of a Turbolaser, some things aren't just vaporised, they're SHREDDED at a molecular level, attempting to flee the blast by sheer velocity, being blown clear...
"Too bad we were also in the way as well. If a Blaster Rifle Bolt the size of a One Credit Coin puts a fist sized hole into Duracrete, sending that duracrete in many directions, imagine what one a few metres in diameter will do!
"Rocks spit at us, and through us. Soil, fused by the heat into glass, sliced at us like we were so much meat on a platter.
"That was the power of the Empire. Not that they could do those things, for every government that was around could have. All you need is a single Turbolaser to do it. It was the fact that they *WERE* willing to do it.
"Again, and again, and again..."
But what do I know. |

Thanks.
An apt description as to what I picture it's like. Similar to the infamous artillery "Air Bursts" in forests, when the shells hit trees and go off, doing more damage in a wider area than they would if they actually hit the ground. (The added shrapnel, and greater blast effect 'cause it's not trying to dig itself out again.).
But it's an unofficial look at it, not canon at all... Oh well. |

So, anyone got much of a problem with what i posted?
Hows about this as an alternate..
If person is within 10 meters of a turbolaser strike, they make a dodge roll...
Dodge 10 or less- 8d damage
Dodge 11-20 - 6d damage
Dodge 21-30 - 4d damage
Dodge 31+ - 2d damage.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

A fully sustained turbolaser strike would be pretty much like a nuke, without the radiation. Anything not under bunkers would probably be annihilated. |
