Just a minor correction on the combined actions. Per RAW one person is chosen as the lead, this is typically whoever has the highest base skill. Each additional person helping gives a +1 pip modifier. These pips in turn convert to the standard 3 pip equals 1D.
In the examples above it would be: 2) 9D+1D+2, 3) 9D+3D+2 for a total of 10D+2 [12/37/62] and 12D+2 [14/44/74]. I am unsure where you get the additional damage you have calculated. They are not considered fire-linked, that is something entirely different from a combined action. _________________ Don Diestler

The Leader ist the Starfighter Coordinator onboard a Capital Ship
The additional damage comes from the combined action rules. For example 12 Xwing fire 24 Torpedos(fire linked) -> every 3 Starfgihter the damage increases by 1D -> +8D damage
you do not want to tell me that 24 Torpedos, which hit the target at exactly the same time, do not do a big "boom" , dont they |

Combined action p.83 states, "Add a +1 bonus for [every] 'extra' character ..." It goes on to state, "If a group of characters is combining action on a combat task, the bonus can be split between the attack roll and the damage roll." The example for X-Wing fire-linked damage on p.127 is incorrect.
Fire-linked p.127, "... several weapons are linked together to fire as a group. The game statistics are for weapons when fire-linked." This means that the bonus for such weapons are already built-in to the ship statistics and it not a combined action as presented on p.83.
Example: 7 X-Wing pilots coordinate to fire their weapons on a ship would have 1x6 = +6 pips = +2D bonus that could be used or split amongst the skill roll to hit or the damage rolled. Proton torpedo at 9D could receive up to a +2D. _________________ Don Diestler

Only if one of the 7 X-Wing Pilots is the commander
When 6 of them fire link their Torpedo launcher they would get a +4D Bonus that could be use or split amongst the skill roll to hit or the damage rolled.
12 of them have +8D
Sorry i do not see why this should be incorrect?

Do not get me wrong but this is *****. What if the Pilots do not fire in fire Link mod? How do you going to get the right result? It is Easier to apply the combined action rules for these situations and imho RAW = RAI |
