This is an initial draft, as can be seen there's a lot of copy work to be done yet to copy the rules from the various sources and add them to the doc (right now those I haven't done yet are just noted as Name, source, description) but time is my enemy so it's slow going.
However, I wanted to show progress and get feedback on initial layout, cover, content and so on. Please note, because of the content of the rules it seemed more intuitive to do a full page spread as opposed to a columned layout, but I'm open to suggestions.
Also, for anyone wishing or willing to contribute, the main thing that would be a great help would be transcribing the yet-to-be-done rules from the books into a notepad file, Word Doc, email or pm, and to pass them onto me so I can copy/paste and reformat. Due to schedules and deadlines at work, finding the time I need to work on this is difficult, and if any of the Rancor Pit community want to help, it would be greatly appreciated.
I can be reached at ty.caineATgmailDOTcom or via pm
Anyway, let me know what you guys think so far!

Just wanted to provide an update of current progress on the Optional Rules Resource pdf I'm working on, which is all the official 'optional rules' published by WEG in the various sourcebooks collected together in one volume.
It's still slow going unfortunately as work has not been giving me much free time, even with the holidays fast approaching, deadlines are deadlines after all. However, all the rules are listed in the book now, it's just that many only have the short note of what they are related to and the sourcebook/page number listed of where to find them.
The ones that ARE fully detailed have been transcribed and formatted for this volume. All in all I'm about 30% complete with the copying from the rulebooks, but I think I have the formatting and layout down pat, and the cover is good to go I think.
I've uploaded an up-to-date revision for those interested, and if nothing else it'll make it easier for you to find that optional rule you half-remember from that sourcebook you've had in the bottom of your drawer all this time...
As always, comments and suggestions are welcomed, and if anyone would like to get a mention in the pdf all they need to do is transcribe one or more of the 'Pending' rules in an email, doc or message to me so that I can copy/paste into the pdf (saving me the transcription time that I obviously don't have much of!), along with what they'd like listed as their contributor name.
Thanks, and enjoy! More updates will follow as more progress is made!

Just wanted to say that it's looking awesome. Such a worthwhile project that I can't believe has never happened before.
One positive: Considering no new "official" material is coming out anymore, one doesn't have to worry about having to add new stuff in constantly!
BTW, it's tough for me to find much free time, to be honest, but I might try to take a stab at a few of these for you. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

Thanks DougRed4!
And believe me I know about having limited free time! It was actually asked on the G+ community why I didn't OCR the pages in, but my printer/scanner crapped out a few months ago (of course) so that hasn't been an option really.
However, I'm progressing slowly!

One minor correction, btw. On p. 30 it has "Surehot" Antilles, when it should probably be "Sureshot".
Might have been originally misspelled, or a transcription mistake. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

Thanks DougRed4! Corrected in the most recent version, available at the same link as posted but repeated here for convenience:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7hbaKpCdGGkLXJTeE9McXlVWDA/edit?usp=sharing
A quick request to all the other Rancor Pit denizens out there, if anyone sees any errors please either PM me, post here, or in the G+community and I'll get it corrected as soon as I can.
It should be noted that I'm getting an influx of transcriptions from a couple of people including Don from Shooting Womp Rats, and that's speeding things up considerably, it's at a whopping 60 pages of content now, and we've still got a ways to go!!
There's also been a request for some images to break up the blocks of copy a little, however, I think I'm going to leave that until I have all the copy completed, then I'll look at adding in some images.
If anyone has comments, opinions, or ideas of how to improve this book, again just reach out to me via PM, posting here, or in the G+community and I'll gladly consider your ideas.
Also, if anyone has Editor blood in them, please take a look and give me feedback of where it can be improved.
[EDIT] @SWR nah, it's Sureshot. Suresh1t is his brother... Mind you, their sister Surehot is awesome eye candy.... LOL

It looks like there's a few free OCR scanning programs, so I might try to tackle some sections some time when I'm home, if I'm able to get them working. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

Latest revision of the PDF (uploaded just now) is up to 88 pages at this time, this is BEFORE I start adding images mind you!
And we're not done yet!
A huge thank you to Don from SWR for his continued contributions in fleshing this out further, between his huge blocks of copy that he's been sending over, and my own smaller contributions (due to time constraints, and time spent editing), we are steadily working our way through the optional rules!
Index numbers are still pending as the layout is in flux until we get all the copy there, but it's coming together smoothly.
Please download the latest revision (link repeated here for convenience), and let me know what you think!
(FYI, rules still needing transcription are noted as Pending in the index!)

And we're not done yet! though we're at around 75% of the content completed at this time!

Took a few minutes today during the craziness of Thanksgiving (hope everyone who celebrates it had a happy and safe holiday!) to update the PDF with a few more pages.
(Please grab the latest revision available here and let me know what you think! Those aiming to assist, note that rules still needing transcription are noted as Pending in the Index)
We're up to 106 pages now, and are a significant way through the transcription of the rules! Looking forward to seeing this project come completely together, and hoping it will be of use to everyone out there!

We're up to 113 pages now, and are less than 20 articles shy of being complete, at least with the copy. From there editing/proof-reading, adding a few more images, and so on will need to be done, but the end is in sight!!!

Had some time today to knock out another chunk, and we're now up to 131 pages (including cover, inside cover & index pages). There are 16 articles remaining to be transcribed, but with work pressures I may not be able to get around to them until closer to the end of the week, however, I wanted to share what I'd managed to get done to this point.
I have some images in there (mostly to do with starship maneuvers since they explained better with an image) but am open to everyone's thoughts about where and what other images could be included. Many of the rules don't have associated images, they're just sidebars, but I'm open to suggestions and with what will fit in the space we have.
Anyway, enjoy!

Another update, we're up to 150 pages, and only have 8 articles left to be transcribed. One or two have been added as merely references as the breadth of the data seemed too great for a volume such as this (the Tramp Freighter rules for modifying & repairing starships for example, or the Character gen rules for various types of characters like smugglers), everything else has been put into this volume.
Also used my official Adobe product to compile it this time, and it saved over a Mb on the final file size... Go figure...
Anyway, let me know what you think!
