What ticks me off now is the info I have it from is from the starwars.com databank site, I have the Gozanti cruiser page saved on my computer because i liked the ship too and when I just tried to go to the databank site and send the link about it apparently the databank is no longer there and neither is the Gozanti cruiser, sigh, my day/week/month/year/life keeps on getting better and better.
I never trusted wookiepedia or any wiki article because any schmo can edit it.
if it doesn't have reliable and working reference links to prove each of it's claims I won't trust it. |

Yeah, I generally take everything on Wookieepedia with a grain of salt.
Krayt's Honor is a named Gozanti Cruiser that has it's earliest sighting date set at 32 BBY. Doesn't make much sense to me that a 4,000 year old ship model would be used a generation before the Rebellion. _________________ RR

As we discussed earlier in the thread, technology progresses more slowly during the Old Republic than during the 20th century, yet WWI and Pre WWI ships were used in WWII. The Colt 1911 (from 1911) is still popular 100 years later. Hyperspace isn't like the internet. Your ship isn't too slow to use it just because it's out of date.
I think a really old ship, even thousands of years old, can still reasonably still see service up until the big technology race of the Clone and Galactic Civil Wars. Even then on the outer rim, in the backwaters and junkyards of the galaxy, it could still be an occasional find. _________________ Or that excessively long "Noooooooooo" was the Whining Side of the Force leaving him. - Dustflier

Hundreds of years I agree with, the YT-1300 is not exactly a new model ship, but 1,000 years? Sticking with your discussion about tech levels used in WWII, they weren't using Viking long boats to board destroyers in WWII, nor were they using 18th century muskets. I could see a player wanting an old school ship for having something with personality, but I feel that using something with a x10 hyperdrive is a waste of money, unless the story has them junk lot diving and finds something that's 1000+ years old. Then, part of the fun would be having them retro-fit it would take the weeks or months to complete. If they're digging in the bargain bin, then beggars can't be choosers. Who wants to have a game where it takes the players a year to get from one planet to another? The characters may very well die of old age before they even finish a story arc.
I suppose what I'm getting at, is that I'm not going to stick my players with a Delaya Class Courier in the New Republic Era, Rebellion, or Rise of the Empire, unless they ask for it. To some degree or another, certain pieces of Star Wars tech belong in their respective time periods. _________________ RR

That's the point. Someone somewhere got their references mixed up, because the only reference I can now find on Wookieepeda re: the Gozanti Cruiser puts the design age in double digits, not 4,000 years. That makes the ship a relative contemporary of the YT-1300 _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Which then brings up the question of why its so slow, if its of comparable age with the YT-1300 _________________ -

Wookieepedia covers that. It was intended as an armed escort, almost like a starfighter-scale version of the Star Galleon. If it were fast, it would've been an excellent pirate vessel, so the manufacturers deliberately capped the speed low to make sure that the vessel wouldn't be used for piracy.
And even if that weren't the case, there are other YT-1300 contemporaries that are even slower, yet no one has complained about them (I think the Ghtroc has a Space of 3). _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Well, if they are too slow for you, you are well within your rights to change the stats of the Gozanti to fit what you think they should be. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. true - after looking over the stats again they seem better than I remember them lol - so the point is moot i think _________________ -

The only problem I have with the stats on the D6Holocron site is that the ship has no weapons, which is ridiculous as the ship was specifically intended as an armed escort ship. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. The saga starships of the galaxy places the weapons loadout at a proton torpedo launcher front, 2 quad laser batteries and 2 quad laser cannon batteries.
It also mentions that the Gozanti is placed back into production after the fall of the empire due to the demand for such armed and armored civilian ships.
You wouldn't do that with a craft that is very old and it's systems can't be that old.
There's obsolete and then there's what the hell are you thinking. |

My Jedi character in the new republic got marooned on a ship's graveyard sort of planet with a few associates. There were several wrecked ships, and he found a Gozanti shell that was still intact. He and his group ended up having to build an engine and re-build a hyperdrive for it using parts from some crashed fighters and other freighters. The Gozanti was the only ship there with a space worthy hull, however all the weapons on it were destroyed in the crash. It took several weeks to get it up and running (with the use of a force point), but the GM decided that because the engine was built with high speed fighter parts, that it now had a space rating of 10! The ship was subsequently named "The Phoenix" since it had come back to life out of a graveyard. As of now, my character has only managed to arm it with a few Ion cannons, but it working on getting it fully loaded, since it is about to be taken into a major space battle. _________________ RR
