I've seen a few mentions of Tie Defender Stats. Those things *ROCKED*!!!
They're from the "Tie Fighter" space sim series from LucasArts... But are considered official I believe. They have Shields, Tractor Beam (Optional), and a Hyperdrive, along with an EJECTOR SEAT!!!
And they cost more than TWO X-Wings per unit, which is why you never see them. Low Production Run.
I'll see if I can hunt up the stats that I found again... No promises, however. |

That's really good! I didn't know things like that existed! Faster, and more manuverable than a speeding A-Wing! able to take really big laser blasts without being blown into smitherines (what is a smitherine?)! more powerful than an X-Wing! It's a B-Wing, It's a skipray, No it's the TIE Defender! _________________ 'God gave you grace to purge this place

Yep, Ur, it's boss. And at ~1,000,000 Credits, less than 100 made.
Good luck getting your hands on one, and the parts aren't cheap, either, 'cause regular Tie Fighter Parts just don't work!!! |

Ah, that makes more sense than just being almost entirely better thanthe TIE advance... How many of those did they make anyway? They said they stopped making them quickly, but Not how quickly.
OK one thing I've always wanted to do with a big ship, is to attach a ton of human plating armours to the hull, and just let them build up on top, so that it would defend against what they need to defend against a lot more (that being torpedoes more than lasers). _________________ 'God gave you grace to purge this place

Just remembered something. My Avatar is a Tie Defender, so you can get a quick reminder as to what it looks like.
As for how many were produced, not more than a dozen squadrons in total... ~144.
The facilities were destroyed very quickly into the manufacture run, and the person that was in charge went a little... Insane, and grabbed a bunch of them to attack the Emperor's Personal Shuttle.
It was a great mission in the Tie Fighter game... You got DARTH VADER as a Wingman!!! You had more experience with the craft than he did (The game character was a test pilot for it), so you got to command the #2 man of the Empire!!!
For a little while.
Still looks good on a resume! |

That's pretty awsome! Good pickup line too...
Anyway, it kinda sucks that there were only 144 TIE advances, I wanted to figure a way to attack some rebel game with about five of those. That would be both a curse and a blessing because we would probably shoot them on stun, and steal the ships when we were done with them.
Hmm... How would you land a TIE Defender? _________________ 'God gave you grace to purge this place

Sorry Ur, it was ~144 TIE Defenders. I don't know how many Tie Advanced were created (About as many, I believe, it was considered a failed experiment).
As for landing a TIE Defender, the same way you land a TIE Fighter. In a rack with Tractor Beam support from the Docking Bay. TIE Craft are not meant to land.
They *CAN*, on their solar pannels, but this damages the pannels and really ticks off the techies. |

if you want to attack rebels with them in the books Yannse Isard from the Xwing novels has 2 squadron of them during the thrawn trilogy (5 yrs after ROTJ) but rogue squadron takes about half of them -2 i think so the republic has 10ish of them and possible the other 12 it never said what happened to them. but if you want to blast rebels with them give em to like Grand Admrial Daala she's alive way into the eve of the empire and did have the Maw Cluster surely she got ahold of some blueprints at some time and can make more... at least i would think the were the primary R&D for the empire even though Sinear or KDY makes them i forget. _________________ Sabbac anyone? |
