That's okay, I don't think the FBI is going to take down the Rancor Pit. They still remember what happened when they tried to bust Steve Jackson Games. _________________ __________________________________
Before we take any of this too seriously, just remember that in the middle episode a little rubber puppet moves a spaceship with his mind. |

I could care less if the FBI investigates the Rancor Pit, I just don't want them knocking on MY door! _________________ For many years West End Games ruled justly until the evil Empire defeated them. Secret Service, actually. Unfortunately I have yet to successfully wrangle one of the "SJG: 1, SS: 0" t-shirts that they supposedly made after all was said and done from any of the staffers I know who work there. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

Just my lame attempt at water-boarding humor! Plus the easiest way to hack something is either have direct access or by social engineering. Just look at Kevin Mitnick. Thank God that we now have the Air Forces new cyber command (LoL). _________________ "Well hello Mister Fancypants. One element to consider when preparing some good home brew for CP/R is, IMO, the time factor. Some tasks may be very difficult, but a character with high skills, or spikes, or really expensive and helpful PC's ala Cracken's, will often be able to overcome impressive difficulty numbers. As the rule book suggests, it can take from 1 round to days or longer depending on complexity, and that's how you keep them from going nuts.
I rigged up a chart to serve as a guide for myself and my PCs:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1TAH3M5X
Note - the PC I was dealing with when I made the chart had a high skill and the best available PC from Cracken's. I may have been a little punitive on the high end tasks as a result. _________________ However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results. -Sir Winston Churchill |

Many thanks Doomhead! Just glad to be of assistance. Besides - I had to have a reason to force myself to learn how to use that megaupload thingy. _________________ However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results. -Sir Winston Churchill |

Is someone going to make a GG for slicing and other data collecting and tech tinkering in the Star Wars Universe?
I thought about including this kind of material the GG for Gamblers and Scoundrels, but it was too much for that book. In 100 years or so if that GG is ever finished, I'd be happy to work on one for this stuff... _________________ Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional! |

I had a Tech-guy as a character a zillion play sessions ago (nowadays only GM). I found that you hade to have more skills/interests than just computers or it got boring fast. Whatever you do with comp prog/repair its not really exciting. My 'hobby' was to (re)build droids. I think I had at least 10 different rebuilt droids, from Astromechs to Cargo haulers.
My favourite droid was my home built 'tank droid' named Evi1 3d. It was a rebuilt cargo droid fitted with a boosted E-web and a rocket launcher and extra armour plating (among other stuff). The only mistake I did was that I used the programming from an assassin droid (found a head in a droid junkyard somewhere) to give the droid good shooting skills. Hidden in that code was the assassin droids assassin programming and personality. Gradually the assassin droid 'took over' my droid. Unfortunately it chose to 'rebel' against the group inside our ships cargo hold while in space ....
Fortunately my character wasnt currently on board... |
