Just had a thought on this... Say baddie #1-3 are hiding behind a 'fake' wall. Would they be using stealth or hide?? Would the walls hide just add to their stealth? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Per your example, they are using neither. They are actually using concealment and cover. They can't be seen, even with a heroic roll, because the wall obscures them. They also have the wall as cover against attacks. If they are trying to be quiet so no one knows they are there, they are attempting to sneak/stealth by keeping noises to a minimum. Now, if they were laying prone in a field of wheat, attempting to remain obscured from sight by searchers, they would be attempting to use Hide. Hope that helps.
Oh, the wall could add to their stealth/sneak depending on how high or thick or opaque it is. A clear plasteel wall will not block line of sight to them, just the ability to hit them.

I disagree, they would still nead to roll Hide, as though they are behind concealment, the skill reflects how efectively they make use of that cover. Did they leave teltail signs? Is something exposed? Is there an abnormal and noticable shadow of the two figure with rifles falling into view? They might still be heard as well. Is their breathing erratic? Are they talking or whispering? Is there gear ratling? Did they turn off their celphones and pagers? By making such a unilateral judgement you have negated the need for any of the skills, and defeated any possibility of detection in a less than fair fashion, which is why skill codes exist.
If stationary = Hide
If moving quietly = Sneak/Stealth
The wall would definately give them an edge (as per the Bonus dice listed in the rulebook), exactly how much of an edge depends on exact situation. _________________ "There's a set way to gain new Force Points and it represents a very nice system, where you're rewarded for heroism, not for being a poor conductor to electricity." ~Jachra |

Resurrection.
To our new folk.
Do you keep the Hide and Sneak skills as the book has them (hide for items, sneak for YOU), or do you combine them?
Do you put in modifiers for sneaking based on the movement of the person using it (like someone crawling on their belly versus one moving at his normal full pace)? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I combined Hide and Sneak in to a single Stealth skill.
Modifiers are assigned on the fly as they make sense in a given situation.
I'd say it's definitely harder to move unnoticed and/or unheard the faster one moves. _________________ Plagiarize! Let no one else's work evade your eyes,

I added a specialization under hide - camouflage. This was the be used for characters could blend in with their surrounding. But if the move - sneak. Also added a sneak specialization - creep/crawl. This was used for characters to sneak at a maximum move of one. |

A while back i actually made up a separate skill for camoflague.. Its sneak for ones self (or other people) when they are not moving. Didn't seem to get much traction. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
