We may be going to see Shazam (our third movie in a month!) tomorrow, if my FIL can make it and grandparent for a few hours. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

Saw Shazam today. Very good. Liked how they handled the Marvel Family. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

This may or may not have been mentioned yet, but WEG's old DC Universe game has D6 stats for Billy Batson and Captain Marvel (see the core rulebook, pages 140-141)...
Not sure exactly how the system works, but a Strength Attribute (equivalent) of 33D is... impressive. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. WEG's DC game was the D6 Legend system. It is an arithmetic-lite success-based system where all die results are either 1 or 0 and the total is added up to beat a difficulty. But like D6-proper, yes 33D would be impressively super-powered strength.

Glad you saw it and liked it. I fear Shazam! may not be in the theater too much longer due to Endgame.
If anyone has access to a big city that might still be showing Shazam! and you are interested in seeing it, go see it this week! _________________ *

It is definitely worth the time, and since I don't work Mondays, we get to see matinees (with few people in the theater; kids aren't QUITE up to a movie in theater, yet). When we went to Endgame, the cheapest part of the day out were the tickets.
Oh, and the movie will PROBABLY punch you in the gut, just before the finale. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

You mean Endgame or Shazam? |
Shazam. Specifically, when he heads to the apartment building that Eugene found for him. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

Yes. That was tragic for sure. What's worse than being an orphan with dead parents? Being willfully abandoned by a parent. That part is actually a bit personal for me in my life (but no not nearly to the extent of Billy's life). _________________ *

Not just that, but while it might be understandable that she abandoned him, she also seemed, in that moment, to want him to forgive her for it, and absolve her of it. Like, as an adult, I know she was taken by surprise and is going to have regrets about this later, but in the moment? From his point of view? She rejected him again, in the moment of finding him, and was ashamed of him in front of her S.O. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. You Are Not Busy!"

|
|
In the original concept for the Shazam film, Black Adam was to appear but producer Dwayne Johnson convinced DC that Black Adam needed his own origin movie.
TWO sequels to Shazam! are both coming out in the next eight months. The first brings Dwayne Johnson into a starring role playing Black Adam, the first Shazam champion the wizard mentioned in the first film. The Black Adam film will also feature two other Golden Age characters, Hawkman and Doctor Fate. The second Shazam! sequel is a more proper sequel to the first film featuring the Vasquez foster family of superheroes. Trailers for both are below.
Black Adam (October '22)
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (March '23) _________________ *

Spoiler-free review, per Nerdist.com - It's three films in one and can't decide which it wants to be - dark and serious, light and fun or building a superhero team. Depending what you expect from it, it will be different combinations of hits and misses. |
