Eh, let them have the force points, but be blind to the force, being a doid infact has some serious disadvantages, one when wounded, you dont heal automatically, 2. you are usually seen as property. 3. normally, to go around in galactic society you have to have an "owner" to vouch/take responsiblily for you, 4. Some Societies in SW REQUIRE you have a Restraining Bolt Attached and/or DON'T LIKE Droids. play em up.

Do what you want, the above are facts of SW as a Universe, are canon though, Droids are seen as "Equipment" or/and "Tools", and folks like luke and crew being an exception, most are programmed to accept this, and, as well they don't coprehend "Independance" as a whole (individual exceptions asside)....... so to a large degree the above is true.

It does not help the clone wars soured people "in universe" on droids (And clones as well)

5. You tend tob e fregile (droids tend to have a low STR score). 6. Your attributes and skill section in general, suck. Droids tend to excel in a specific area, and are terrible (1D-2D) in everything else.

I do believe you just introduced a new term into the Star Wars universe. I love it! "We don't serve their kind here," said the droidist bartender.

I know it's cannon, just like in 1e AD&D, racism and sexism is part of the rules. But you look at several of the bigger ADND sites and many shun away from following those rules, cause they don't like offending fellow gamers..

While I agree that those topics can be difficult (or even taboo) for some, I think using droids to (subtly) deal with issues like racism or prejudice is an easy way to address those topics.

Much like the X-Men have always been an allegory for those same issues (or the half-black, half-white aliens in classic Star Trek), science fiction has always been a good place to examine issues like this.

Not saying you would even have to put a lot of emphasis on it, but having a droid PC would probably (even inadvertently) have a group running into some of those matters. As said above, it's just the way droids are treated, in the SW universe (and there's a bunch discussed about it in both the rules and Cynabar's).

Indeed, Infact the empire is largely made up of human chvaunists, it is part of the story and setting...... and part of the struggle.

Droid PCs, yes.

Droid NPCs, no, unless required by story.

Re 5: That is why I wrote it as "tend". The tendency is that most droids have a low STR. Those that perform duties that require a high STR (load lifters, some battle droids) might have a good STR - even a great one.

In one of my campaigns the PCs ran into a modified load lifter that had chain saws on it's lifting arms. The thing was slow, clumsy and stupid. Unfortunately so were the PCs. One PC decided that it was the perfect time to try out that lightsaber he just picked up, and, thanks to a mishap, he slashed the ship's hatch controls, preventing him from closing the hatch. The encounter ended with another PC firing off a rocket launcher inside the ship's hold. Most of the group went down and nearly suffocated while the atmosphere got sucked out the hatch (thanks to another PC knocking out the landing bay's force field by shooting off the ship's turrent inside the landing bay).

The PCs turned out to be a much greater threat to their survival than the droid.

That's hilarious, at! Sounds like it would make a great comedy! Laughing

Don and I proposed renaming the points to Hero Points for droids.

R2 has force points, how would he have survived a direct hit from a TIE-Fighter otherwise? Character points? Possibly, but that smells more like a use of force points (I take the hit for the X-wing so Luke can make the shot...) to me...
