Pretty sure I didn't miss any, but if I did feel free to add to this list. Also, there are one or two duplicates, I left them all in for completeness...
If nothing else it provides a start for the Optional Rules Resource project...
(EDIT: Realized I had dupes in there which were incorrectly pasted, removed the extra Elrood entries)

AWESOME PLAIN FREAKIN AWESOME. Thank you so much for compiling this. I know this had to represent quite a bit of looking up stuff. So I for one recognize your efforts and thank you wholeheartedly! _________________ Don Diestler

I'm looking at the possibility of compiling these rules into a single datapad (sourcebook) but it will involve a fair amount of my time so I'm approaching it cautiously at the moment.
I'm also a little curious about the legality of doing that.
If someone can speak to that, and also to whether this is something people would like to see, I may be encouraged to take it more seriously.

Are you charging money for it? If not, then don't worry about it. _________________ Don Diestler

Wasn't planning on charging for it, so I'll assume I can move forwards.
Assuming there's people out there who'd appreciate the work.

As an FYI, these details came from the index files available from here, I just compiled them, alphabetized and validated them where I had time.
With some input from Don there are some (like the starship maneuvers) that I may leave out as depending on your style of play they may be less useful, and it trims the list by a few entries. Also some entries are more informational which may be left out.
However, I am looking at starting this project so hopefully will have something to show for it soon, time allowing. If only for my own use...

Scratch that, I'm compiling the starship & vehicle maneuvers and such into a separate section of the Optional Rules sourcebook rather than not including them at all...
So I may just section it out a little to incorporate everything I have. We'll see how this goes...
Also, if anyone stumbles across an optional rule not covered by the list above, please let me know.

Hmm, this is harder than I thought, some of these 'optional rules' are just a few paragraphs, which is great, they fit right into the concept of a collection of optional rules sourcebook.
Some though are pages and pages long, for instance the 'optional' rules for Droids, I'm not sure it's worth duplicating the rules from Cynabar's when Cynabar's was meant as a Droid rules resource (at least IMO).
Thoughts? In those cases would a simple reference suffice to point the user to the book and page?

If there is an entire book devoted to something I would say that is no long really "optional". Optional to me, are little "tweaks" and such. If its no longer a "tweak" its moves from being an optional rule to an alternate rule. I know this seems like splitting hairs but it is not.
Let me explain. "Alternate" means to replace. As in replace the system mechanics. "Optional" means to work along side, not to replace.
I would consider Droids an "alternate" set of rules not so much "optional" rules and therefore would not be included in this fanboy resource.
At least that is how I see it. _________________ Don Diestler

Agreed, that's how I see it as well, for droids we have a whole official sourcebook (Cynabar's) dedicated to it, so I think I'll skip those entries, and focus on the others.

I definitely think the list would be easier to look at if the excerpts were divided into categories and alphabetized under them.
Some headings could be:
Ground combat
Vehicle Combat
Space Combat
Droids
The Force
Missions
The Universe
- laws
- bounty-hunting
- tramp freighters
- Cantina shenanigans
- Planets
Of course this list of headings isn't perfect. I'm just tossing an idea out there. I would definitely use this resource if it were easy to navigate. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

I know we're into semantics here, but to me "optional" doesn't have anything to do with length or size of a particular rule or document.
One could have an "optional" rule, for example, on how to incorporate the Clone Wars or the Knight of the Old Republic era into our existing stuff (which only dealt with the OT time period).
That Clone Wars supplement could be a 300 page sourcebook, and might introduce all sorts of new rules and concepts to allow for play during this particular period. But - being as it doesn't fall into the normal RAW - it would still be "optional".
Not trying to split hairs here, and I agree that such a project needs to have differentiation of some kind. But to me 'Alternate' and 'Optional' are just completely different concepts; literally the very definition of "apples and oranges". _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

Thanks Dromdarr_Alark & DougRed4, I'm taking those comments to note!
As it stands right now I'm somewhere between 40-50% complete at this time, most of my time is taken with either work, or what little sleep or family time I'm getting, so it's slow going, but I am making progress.
As another thought, I still need to put together a cover, any thoughts for the image on the front cover for this Optional Rules Resource? Just looking for ideas...
