You can add these two "Does this stair go up or down?" and "What time is the Midnight Buffet?" |

Getting back to the topic, isn't there a net supplement somewhere that covers restaurant chains in the SWU? I know the AJ comic Bungo & Rusti Get Takeout featured the Tagge Biscuit Baron fast food chain, but I vaguely recall a Guide to Cultures or something that covered other restaurants... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Not sure about a guide though. We don't use restaurant chains very much. Most of the food our PCs eat is in pubs, bars, and non-chain restaurants and noodza shops. Here is the food list we use.
Food
Arconan fungi—served covered with dactyl (see dactyl) it is a favorite of Arconans. [JA p61-2]
Astacine crawdads—a freshwater crustacean, Astacine (asta-keen) crawdads are a delicacy. Raised on large ranches on the planet Astacus (as-ta-kus) in Thuris Sector. [MS]
Bantha burgers (self explanatory)
Brightgum—a chewing gum containing a mild stimulant. [?]
Bruallki—a meat often served with Menkooro(?). Bruallki is served braised. “If we had some bruallki, we could have bruallki and Menkooro…if we had some Menkooro.”—Old saying.[LC p138 Chap. 12; DFR?, VotF p508]
dactyl—a type of yellow ammonia crystal necessary for Arconan life and health. If is often added to their food. Salt (NaCl) is dangerous and addictive to Arconans. It increases their need for dactyl a by a factor of 100. [JA p61-2]
elba grain—grain used to make Elba beer, see Elba beer.
Goatgrass—a silvery green grass with a silky texture. Considered a delicacy, especially by ruminant species. [TfJP p181]
gorak bird—roast gorak bird cooked in malla petals from Alderaan is/was considered a delicacy. [JA p61]
Grua fruit — a pear-like fruit grown on the planet Osirrag in the Elrood Sector. It is used to make Grua brandy. [MS]
Horter eggs—the eggs of a large, flightless avian [origin?].
Imperial Expedition Packs—Star Wars version of an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat) Includes all the elements of a complete meal. See Norgath brown meatbread, pawei juice, or ration bars. [BtS]
Irlanda root—a tuber used as a foodstuff throughout the Enarc sector. It is native to one of the planets in the sector. Besides its use for food, it is also the principal ingredient in Enarcan vodka. [MS]
Jer-weevils—dried and salted, crunchy jer-weevils are a staple bar snack. [HST-3, p 195]
Kidroni—any sweet spiced barbecued kril meat. Originally from the planet Kidron, it has since become common throughout Elrood Sector. Authentic Orfa barbecue is called Kidronesi. [MS]
L’lahsh—was a traditional food dish made on the planet Alderaan. Even after the destruction of Alderaan, mixes for it are still sold as luxuries. [SWR, X-Wing1, Radio Play Episode 2]
malla petals—an Alderaanian seasoning
miasra sauce—a yellow-swirled dipping sauce popular with trimpian slices as finger-food. [VotF p303]
Merinkoo—a Meristean stew served with two different kinds of Toz bread. The breads represent the individuality of the Meris and Teltiors, the stew represents the blending of the two races. It is like Ethiopian food. [MS]
Namana candy—a yellow-orange candy made on Bakura from the Namana fruit. “Tropical flowers…a hint of spice…” The candy is mildly addictive. See namana nectar. [TaB p136-7]
Nebula Crunch—a highly sweetened breakfast cereal, “A galaxy in every box!” [MS]
Nerf—a Corellia herd animal, its meat is often served smoked and spiced. It is where the term “nerf-herder” comes from.
Noodza—a dish made of Toz noodles and fried kril-meat, fish, or eggs. A staple food item from Torina in the Elrood Sector. [MS]
Norgath brown meatbread—a brown vegetable product high in protein. It is often used in Imperial Expedition Packs (a Star Wars version of an MRE). [BtS]
Nyokon mint chewing gum—a popular type of chewing gum. See Nyokon mint under spices. [MS]
Ration bars—a type of field food. They come in several flavors or colors. Green is vegetarian, brown includes animal protein, mauve/purple are spiced and include animal protein. Generally considered inferior in taste and variety to Imperial Expedition Packs. Often referred to as rat-bars. [KG&MS]
Ryshcate—a dark brown sweetcake that is traditionally reserved for birthdays, anniversaries, or other celebrations of momentous occasions. It is made with Corellian Whiskey and vweliu nuts (among other ingredients). The cake is moist and flat and is usually wrapped in plastic to keep it fresh. When eaten for a ceremony the traditional phrases are “We share this ryshcate in the same way we share our celebration of life.” — “To the celebration of life.” [X-Wing1]
Shara rice—A cereal indigenous to Sharene in Elrood sector and a staple food of that planet. The crop is predominantly grown and harvested by hand. The rice grains are slightly teardrop shaped. They are also made into shara rice cakes, a tasteless so-called healthfood [MS]
Sidroni—a food (typically meat) spiced with the hot spice plant that grows only in the oases of the planet Sidron in the Elrood sector. [MS]
tallgrain—a colorful grain grown in neat rows with interlocked roots (crop hazards include worm colonies infesting the roots and white-blight). The tallgrain strings grow inside a sheath on the stalks. The leaves are brittle and give off a sour-musky aroma when brushed against or broken. [SotP p325-7]
Tekka nuts—a salty, slightly menthol flavored snack food with a soy-like aftertaste. Tekka nuts are served throughout most of the bars, cantinas, tapcafes, and gambling halls of the galaxy. Because of the way they are processed, there are over a dozen species that find them either psychologically or chemically addictive - e.g. Arcona crave the salt added during processing, Humans enjoy the mild levels of caffeine (as well as the salt and fats), Squib like the slight menthol taste, Herglic are reminded of the thrill of gambling. [Jae Walker’s SW-RPG List]
Tomo-spiced karkan ribenes—similar to a slab of barbecued ribs [SotP p131]
Toz—a grain, native to the planet Merisee, it is now common throughout the Elrood sector. It is used in breads, mushes, flour, and brewed into utoz, a popular alcoholic beverage. “Tozzed” is slang for drunk in Elrood sector. [PC]

I don't know about any net guide, but Wretched Hives of Scum & Villainy does feature a few restuarants. _________________ *
