How much are books like Tramp Freighters really necessary acquisitions now that so many of the ships are available on the D6Holocron? |

If you are making use of the collection pdfs, then no, you dont really need books like Tramp Freighters. Unless you like having a hard copy. Since I dont take my laptop to all my gaming sessions, I personally like having a hard copy on hand. |

Tramp Freighters is pretty much the only official source available for modifying space transports. A lot of the gear mentioned in Tramp Freighters is covered in the Equipment Compilation, but not everything. Without Tramp Freighters, you don't have the modification tables, the mod mishap tables, and you're also missing the trading rules (if you want to run that sort of campaign). I bought it because I want to have a complete set, but it also proves itself very useful in games on a pretty regular basis. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. And in addition to all those rules and such, Tramp Freighters has those nice, atmospheric illustrations too. 8) |

Can you use those trading rules then in the first edition pretty much as is with revised and expanded or is there a little bit of rules tweaking to do? _________________ "The Force will be with you. Sometimes." |

I've never read 1E Tramp Freighters, so I can't say for certain what the differences are. I can't imagine it being too different, though... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. There's no tweaking of the trading rules. The drop-point delivery, speculative trading, black market, and loan sharks rules are the same for both editions, except that 2E actually has a layout error that cuts out part of the trading rules, so 1E is a little more complete in that respect. Converting to 2E is not that hard if you want to be economical and use the 1E version. I had TF 1E for many years and used it before I upgraded to 2E. _________________ *

I wish I had used bookstores in my area that specialize in RP books ... infortunately the only one I know of in Denmark is in Copenhagen ... 4 hours away _________________ -

There used to be quite a few where I used to live, now I play the auction game on ebay and the like which is at times very frustrating. _________________ "The Force will be with you. Sometimes." |
