Many have but there have been some exceptions.

They vary greatly so it just depends. But most of them probably dislike or are indifferent to the Jedi (until one defeats them!).

Yes, it would, but so far I've only ever played in the the official Rebellion era (2 years before Yavin to 1 year after Endor). Eventually I like'd to take my campaign universe into far enough into the future of the films for my own epic "sequel trilogy" to take place (see below).

In the time right after the formation of the Republic, there was overwelming popular support for the Empire. The public generally believed the Imperial propaganda that Jedi were responsible for manufacturing the Great Clone War as a plot to take over the Republic (exactly what the Sith actually did but the blame was sucessfully shifted to the Jedi).

By the time of the Rebellion era, there is stil a bad general public view of Jedi, but it is not nearly as strong for a couple reasons. The Jedi presence in the Empire was virtually non-existent. Jedi were stategically phased out of the media so they would just be allowed to become a more distant memory (vile enemies long ago vanquished by our glorious Emperor, his feasome enforcer Vader and his Imperial majesty's stormtrooper army). Also, a large but mostly silent minority were more significantly oppressed by the New Order and saw through the lies of the Emperor. Many of those remembered or reimagined the Jedi as the heroes they truly were. Those citizens didn't trust Palpatine so doubted much of what he said. The Rebels themselves would largely fall into that category.
In my New Republic, the view of the Jedi continues to improve overall, especially after word gets around that the Jedi have returned to the galaxy to save it from the Imperial remnants. But I thought a nice twist might be that just as the New Republic begins to establish itself more and more as a legitimate successor to the Republics and Palpatine's Empire, it leaks to the public that New Republic heroes Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa are the offspring of the infamous Darth Vader. Then the New Republic would have to deal with a new negative popular opinion. _________________ *

And the fact that they concealed, or at least did not publicize or acknowledge the relationship, would only add to the suspicion. Kind of makes it look like it was just some family squabble over the succession, or usurpation of the Emperor, doesn't it? |
