er, no, that only applies when being chased by a bear... the explosion will catch you if you are too close- no matter how fast you are _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

I had that hapen in a game. It was Bond, not Star Wars, but it happened. One PC was moving past the bay windows which overlooked the sea for the cliffside villa. At the same time anoteher PC tossed in a makeshift greande (actually a thermite change) in through the door. PC by the window decided that it was better to dive off the cliff into the ocean that to get caught up in the thermite charge. |

Probably a wise choice. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

It was. And quite fortuitous. The PC swan dived right next to the major villians Yacht, overpowered the guards, and was in a perfect position to prevent the villian from escapeing when he fled the buring rubble formerly know as his villa.
Unfortunately, the villain chose to flee in his seaplane instead of his yacht, and the PC resorted to trying to stop the seaplane with a flaregun. The PC succeeded; most spectacularly. It may have taken a few moments for all the shrapnel to come down, but the seplane certainly stopped. |

So you got in the water, out of it, onto the yacht, and all the rest without the guards doing anything to stop you? Or did they just not hit. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I was running, but the guards just didn7t hit. They were a litle distracted by the explosion up at the house and didn't expect a bikini-clad MI6 babe to drive under the yatch and come up from the other side. he guards did try, but they were extras in what was supposed to be the teaser.
I would have looked great on screen.
What might have been ever funnier was what happened to the third PC. He was caught up in a firefight and luckily ran out o bullets. He ducked down behind cover long enough to reload, totally unaware that an explosion was immanent. |

Better. He managed to save the lift of the pyro (who had managed to light himself on ire, trying to climb through a burning window), neutralize the 55 gallon drum of never gas, and even get out of the buring building alive. He did let the bad guy get away, but he was a bit busy.
I wonder how wellt it would have gone i all the PCs had followed orders. Frankly the "danger level" of the mission as written pales next to self-inlicted machoists paradise that the PCs ended up with. A running firefight in a buring building with a drum of Sarin nerve gas for shelter.
I7m not such a sadistic GM as to throw that against my players. Sadistic enouh tpo enjoy it when theydo it to themselves, yes, but I wouldn't throw that against them. |
