It is possible that you're right about Han, it's also possible that during his stay on the Deathstar and his using the Blaster Rifles that were procured off the Storm Troopers there, he spent character points and began familiarizing himself with a rifle.
One could also think about it like this, learning to go from an automatic transmission to a manual. Are you saying that because you're an expert in the first, that the other isn't completely foreign to you?
Anyway, the direction this discussion is going, it should be in official or house rules. |
Why would Han begin to specialize in the rifle, when he was already had a blaster skill of 6D+2. This means that he could fire a blaster rifle at 6D+2. Why would specializing in that weapon make him worse at it?
If you're a master cook and can cook everything at 11D. Including burgers. Then how would the fact that you begin to specialize in cooking burgers result in the fact that you now only can cook burgers at 2D+1???
See what I mean?
It not like learning a new skill, it's specializing in one area of a skill. This shouldn't by any means make you worse!
And going from automatic to manual isn't the same as this example.
If a driver was equally good at driving manual and automatic (Driving) and then specialized in Driving: automatic, then it would be the same. And logic would dictate that he wouldn't instantly forget everything he knew about driving an automatic. He was start at his current level, and gradually get better. |
