That's actually a really neat idea! I'd really never thought of just explaining things away like that. That way when the players say "but that didn't happen in the prequels" you can just say "I guess the legend was wrong". Plus, like you mentioned, you can explain away any of the inconsistancies from the prequels as the facts obviously being messed up in the telling of the legend. Great idea! |

I don't know if anyone saw the mini-series/move "Merlin" starring Sam Neill, Martin Short, Miranda Richardson (and quite a number of other fine actors.)
Basically, towards the end, you pull back and it's a very old Merlin telling his tale to a group of folks. Martin Short's character steps forward and says "Well, that's not exactly the way *I* remember it." To which Merlin replies, "That's the way they like it. Besides, I don't think they'd believe it if I told the way it really was."
Seems to work the same way for Star Wars.
