Wow, this one is awesome I think I'm going to print this out and add it to my rule set _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

/edit This option is (normally) limited to military ships. Transponders are sealed to a ship’s engine. Removing it will generally damage the engine, but it can be done. With appropriate additional hardware the signal sent out can be blurred or the transponder can totally be shut down. As mentioned, complete shutdown is in most cases restricted to military vessels. The latter, however, use transponder technology to avoid friendly fire, so turning off the transponder can be dangerous when multiple allied ships are involved in space combat.
Owning an IFF receiver is considered illegal, unless one has a license.
Usually only imperial and starport officials get one. But IFF receivers can also be (illegally) purchased on the black market. They are quite expensive, though, and hard to obtain.
Please note, that in my version of transponder rules one does not require access to BoSS data to receive and read / analyse information transmitted by a transponder. This information is included in the code itself. BoSS data is only used for comparison purposes and to check whether the transponder code has been registered with BoSS (thereby making sure that it is not fake).
Do you think that the interpretation of transponders described in my last two posts on the previous page is an appropriate one? Does it fit into a Star Wars setting? Or have I made some totally wrong assumptions? |
