Also, if you set the adventure up right; you can take the ship away in a way that doesn't seem like you did.

Example: Mission 1: Intertwine imperial sabotage into the scenario; they escape but not knowing the extent to the damage. Enter hyperspace. Mission 2: They exit hyperspace, they are close to a near-by system and can spend a couple days travel to get there to make repairs. Mission 3: Anything you want, end it with the characters needing to make a fast get away. Give the characters an "easy out" ship; and then they are off and away in a new ship. Just make sure the ship is decent but inferior to theirs. I promise they're likely to come back to finish repairs.

Plus, when they DO come back to finish repairs, their ship could have been jacked up in their absence. The entire hyperdrive motivator is gone, requiring them to buy a new one. Of course, the only available options will be less speedy models, which will even things out a bit.
