Rewards Question

Ha, my group had one of such caliber. He usually said, "I'm leaving now" for a trip that took ten minutes. And usually, he ends up being like two hours late. One time he never showed up! Recently, we have just stopped inviting him as he isn't a really player either.

It's bad when you want the person to be there, but no matter how many times you discuss punctuality with them they don't seem to get it. The group spends at least 30-1hr waiting just to see if they will show up, then if we can start without them (hard to do if they are one of a very small group). It's disruptive and distracting.

As mean as it is, we'd almost want to all treat him the way we get treated when it's his game that he tries to run. Maybe then he would understand how frustrating it is to us.

Last week the GM couldn't make it for a couple hours and all he did was b****. We sat sat there pretty calm and entertained ourselves. Then he asked if we were upset and I said "We're used to not being able to play on time because people don't show up on time. You're the only person this in new to. And the reason we're not mad is because he called to let us know why and when he'd be here." He got quiet and maybe he'll try harder. I can hope.

We all want to play. Simple as that. If someone is constantly late, that says to me that they don't want to play, in which case, why do they bother?

It's not that he doesn't want to play; it's that he gets distracted by other things or looses track of time; sometimes he just forgets. It's more like he doesn't really see (or maybe care) that it puts other people out...he just does what he wants when he wants on his own schedule and so he'll get there when he does; why should anyone else care?

It's annoying, it really is.

He is everyone's friend; but to be honest I don't do the inviting...if I did I've long since had enough waiting. I do look on the bright side though, he has given me a large lesson in punctuality.
