But remember that Han is boasting that the Falcon is the fastest ship in the galaxy- this isn't a hard fact.

He does boast, but the particular Kessel Run incident is shown in the Han Solo Trilogy by AC Crispin. The "parsecs" comment is not him confusing a term of distance for time, the gravitational effects of the black hole actually do reduce the distance.

He's got good reason to boast. The Falcon's fast, even Lando boasts about how fast she is in ESB.

Well, he's not boasting that the Falcon is the fastest ship the galaxy has ever seen. He's boasting that at that time the Falcon is the fastest known in the galaxy. The stats for the hyperdrives do seem to support that.

And, in addition to the actual speed of his ship, remember that one of his biggest boasts is doing the Kessel run in under 12 parsecs, a feat he achieved not only through sheer speed, but from also skimming closer to the Maw Cluster than anyone else was willing to go- and surviving the encounter.
Now, he doesn't talk as much about the armor plating he shaved off the hull as a result of his proximity to those black holes...  |
