I posted a quick video (not much thought put into the video, quality or editing of the video) showing the character creator and launcher, or more exactly whats been done so far on them.

I'm impressed. I'm really looking forward to this coming to full fruition. _________________ __________________________________

I have managed to make some headway this weekend (and start of the week), what Im missing before I release version 0.3 (first "offical" release) is equipment, there will be some features missing in version 0.3 that will come in time but it should be usuable for some people at least.
Also, sense I havent hade any bug testers I have no ide how well it will work on other systems, there shouldnt be much problems however (Im sure there are bugs I havent found yet but when they are found I will work to eliminate them and post an update for the program). _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

Will it be possible to add new equipment to the database? |

Short answer yes with a but.
Long answer:
I am creating 3 seperate "tools", the first one (the one I have been working on so far) only allows character creation and no edit of the equipment or other things
The second one is a data edit tool that will allow the user to add/edit templates, skills, equipment etc, I will start working on this as soon as I get version 0.3 of the character tool done.
The third one is intended to help the GM keep track of things during game play (not sure exactly what this will include yet). _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

Im almost done with version 0.3 now, I need to fix the database entries (aka write down all templates, equipment and so on), and test it to make sure all the new additions work.
So with a bit of luck it should be out by sunday evening or early in the week. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

Just an update, I have finished with most of the work for version 0.3.
Now Im checking to see that all the things I added work (at least when I try them), fix the things that dont, and fix any other errors I find (missing skills, equipment etc).
I figure this should take about a day to complete unless I come across a major problem. Once this is done I will release version 0.3, this will include the updater and the character tool, not the GM tool or the edit tool.
A note, when I do release this, the first thing that will be needed to be done is run the updater (both to install the character tool and the "update"), this will create the database and fill it with the information.
WARNING: This may take a long time (depending on your computer) and it might appear as if the program isnt responding, just leave it and let it work it may take several minutes. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

I have released version 0.3 of the updater/launcher and character tool.
I think they should work well enought to be of some use to people.
Remember to report any problems you might have or I wount be able to fix them. and also remember to run the update every now and then sense I will post updates when I have fixed a bug or made a change to the program.
I will start working on the edit tool next so everyone will be able to add there own species, templates, skills, equipment and so on. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

Just thought I would post an update.
The passed time I have been keept busy with IRL things, so I havent hade time to put any work into the apps, but its not dead, work will continue as soon as I get some time over (which should be this or next week).
Oh as I have started working on the Edit tool, post what things you would like to be able to edit/add/remove first. For example Templates, skills, equipment and so on. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

First off I wanna say great idea, I downloaded the limited version and was really excited for it to become more complete.
To speak for myself, all my role-playing and GM is mostly done with friends though over computers. And the data is usually stored on my computer. Sheets, pdfs, etc.
What bugs me the most is just formatting open office for character sheets for all my pc, and npc characters.
What I see for myself, in this project, is the ability to store all the info about a character I have right in one simple place and be able to edit it without much work.
And I can easily go change their skills, attributes, health, anything without having to painstakingly reformat off of the open office document. |
