Ladies and gentlemen, greetings.
I am a rather flexible individual. That said, these are my initial thoughts.
I will set our game in the Rise of the Empire, Rebellion, or New Republic era.
It will revolve around a legitimate company. Player characters will be employed by the company, clients, passengers (or stowaways)on its ship (or other conveyance), crooks targeting said company, agents investigating or subverting it, and so forth: people with a cause to be present and remain on the scene for a time.
A company ship may be what the characters are together on, or they may be together at places to which the company sends its workers. In either of those arrangements, I design to have characters of varied kinds able to jump in or drop out easily: the company needs employees for all manner of responsibilities; all kinds of passengers could ride its ships; varied clients work with it; intelligence agents, subversives, and crooks might well target the company for ends Rebel/New Republic, Imperial, or criminal; and anyone could happen to be present where the action is.
Game rules shall be Second Edition, with a few house rules.
Force using characters shall not be allowed.
Romance will be permitted within limits.
Profane, obscene, or vulgar language is forbidden.
Combat descriptions may be gritty, but there will be no brains flying, guts coming out, or blood splattering all over the walls.
Posting interval shall be . . . once a week.
We shall roll manually; I shall roll for anyone who so desires.
Now, tell me what you think. _________________ "Fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." (Ecclesiastes 12:13b)

I like the sound if this.
I have no experience whatsoever with pbp, and doing this, which i take it to be here on the forum in a rp thread, i think is a great way o learn pbp. |

Count me in! By the way, are we talking 2E, 2E revised, or 2E REUP?
I can probably pull together a couple of character ideas. Can you tell us what the company actually does? Like, what it's business(es) is/are? |

Mamatried, that is correct; it is on the forum, in a thread.
Solo4114, we are talking about pure Second Edition, Unrevised, Unexpanded, and Un-updated.
Regarding the company, it is a large concern that has many branches or sub-sections. Imagine it as similar in that respect to Mitsubishi. Much of it is vertically integrated. Its divisions include manufacturing, shipping, mining, refining, prospecting, and so forth. It probably does not have department stores, restaurants, hotels, shops, or other hospitality, retail, or entertainment industries. It has its own security forces, up to and including small military forces as necessary. The company can settle small colonies on frontier planets if it wants to. It is a frame within which many things can be painted, and I am, as I said, rather flexible. The company is rather large, and neither the players nor the characters will see all of it. _________________ "Fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." Do you envision the characters as travelling troubleshooters for the corporation? Also, how does the corp feel about non-humans? _________________ Aha! |

I am very interested.
Are there species restrictions we should know about? Character creation house rules? |

"Captain Pel, I have the intelligence you requested." The characters are not necessarily company troubleshooters. However, that was one of my thoughts while mulling the game concept over. Characters of that type do fit well. The company has no objections to non-humans as such.
"Captain Kytross, our scout ships have reached Bradwardine." I have no species restriction, and there are no character creation house rules, but I will be vetting the characters carefully. _________________ "Fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." Ok, that works. When would you like to begin character creation? _________________ Aha! |

I'm interested in playing. When you talk about characters being able to drop in and out, do you intend to let us each keep a small stable of PCs to choose who we take out on missions, etc.? |

No, that is not my intention. My intentions are twofold and related: to make it easy for the players to join or leave the game, and to make it easy for characters, of whatever type, to glide into the game in the midst of a scene. Should you want, for whatever reason, to run two characters at once, I might consider that. No stable concept was intended. _________________ "Fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." (Ecclesiastes 12:13b)
