I just wanted to remind people this is here. I've been successful at filtering out almost all of the spammer registrations, but a few of them have gotten through and posted while I wasn't here. In those cases there was a lot of valid activity on the board but no mention of these spammers here. It seems like as soon as I created this thread specifically to report spammers, they suddenly stopped being reported.
Thank you. _________________ *

I usually do, but I saw them just as I was waking up this morning, then when I went back to look for them later, I didn't see them, so I assumed it had been dealt with. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Can we change the bylaws so you have to sing Monty Python's Spam Song whenever purging extraneous messages? _________________ Aha! |

I second this, if only for the reason that I haven't heard that song in a long time and am nostalgic for it.
Incidentally, a local theater is showing Life of Brian in less than a week and I'm going with some friends to see it. I've seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail a bunch of times, but I've never seen Life of Brian yet. How odd is that? _________________ Sutehp's RPG Goodies
Only some of it is for D6 Star Wars.
Just repurchased the X-Wing and Tie Fighter flight sim games. I forgot how much I missed them. |

We may as well. I do this anyway. _________________ __________________________________
Before we take any of this too seriously, just remember that in the middle episode a little rubber puppet moves a spaceship with his mind. |

Did you sing the song? It's not official unless you sing the song. _________________ Aha! |

As soon as I fix the Registration submit button, the spammer registrants return. When the button didn't work and everyone had to submit email requests, the spammer registrants dropped to almost zero. My web provider must have been blocking the spammer emails from even coming through, which is great. But people really like the convenience of the button and not having to read the forum for the procedure.
So now we are back to every request being sent through, and I have to filter them. At least the one above just typing random keys into the why_like and how_found fields made it obvious. Their email was banned.
FYI, if some spammers put smarter answers, some may get through. Please be vigilant and report spammers here. We will send them to the garbage mashers asap. Thank you. _________________ *

Needless, to say, this is very suspect. A quick internet search of the username found that "turkyaljaattar" is the newest mbr of a large number of internet forums on a wide variety of subjects, all joined in the last week, such as: weapons manufacturers, flight simulator programs, aluminum alloy boats, auto racing, Blade Runner props, African wildlife, yacht owners, marine engineering, peak oil, emergency home preparation, and parenting (they really do have a forum for everything).
This is the life of an internet admin. Protecting you from spammers. _________________ *

The only possible reason this stuff has to meet with any success is because of the law of large numbers. I get spammed with phone calls all the time that any half-way intelligent kindergartner wouldn't fall for, but they just keep trying. Wish I had a dollar for every time a recorded voice with atrocious grammar told me my social security number had been suspended. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
